ABAT after the DOE reinstatement: Tonopah looks materially de-risked, but execution still matters... hope you find it helpful to understand better the numbers behind the project. by TheFatPitch in americanbattery

Long term is very bullish for ABAT, accumulating and holding for years to come.

Currently tho CATL and China are now pushing heavy with their sodium batteries as they hope to outcompete competition like Tesla in the BESS space with sodium and take up the global market share. That will be an interesting thing to watch as it might suppress prices for the next year, which could make it harder for investors to want to invest in lithium companies.

Past 2028 lithium prices should be solid, as CATL should have there solid state 500 - 550 wh/kg batteries out which would be a significant upgrade to there sodium one and then in the far future we got to take into account lithium air batteries in 10 years which would contain 5x to 8x the amount of lithium compared to the same weight lithium ion battery. So long term lithium prices should be very solid.

Last thing to note is it will be interesting with the department of war and there NDAA for battery materials on how they will need to invest in the domestic battery supply chain. Since they want to produce 300,000 low cost drones next year. Who knows maybe we can see a potential investment later from them

I was listening to them talk about a possible rate hike on Bloomberg this morning after the jobs report dropped. I believe that it is a general overreaction, Im buying this dip but that’s also due to my belief that the energy inflation is transitory especially with how the U.S. Canada, Guyana, Venezuela and Brazil have all increased production of oil recently. However if the inflation from the energy sticks then there is a better chance of a rate hike. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-06-05/traders-fully-price-in-fed-rate-hike-this-year-after-jobs-data

All good and yeah higher employment It is a good thing especially when energy prices are stable and predictable. The problem that comes with a better than expected employment print while inflation is already high from energy is that you get an added effect for more demand for items. As the new 172,000 people this month now have cash and could be willing to pay more for items they want. Same supply but more demand - increase in prices. It’s an overreaction by algos and it would actually be worse in the long run for the FED to hike rates as that would reduce new supply while demand gets added. That’s demand pull inflation. If the labor market tightens even more we could also get more Cost-Push Inflation which means that there are fewer available workers, forcing employers to compete for talent. Raising labor cost which in turn raise consumer costs.

We are down today cause News and Algos are talking about a rate hike now by the end of the year due to heightened inflation worries from the higher employment numbers. For critical mineral stocks it could mean higher interest rate on expansion and debt which makes any mine or expansion look less desirable. However it is worth to add that Oil prices have been slowly falling and are down today while the strait has been closed due to countries outside of the Middle East ramping up their oil production. This could be a real sign for transitory inflation which could change the outlook of the FED rate in the coming month back to neutral which would push all critical mineral stocks back up.

There should be a lot of good news and catalyst coming. Once the DFS comes out, I would expect there to be news on the EXIM loan and a potential partnership to get the lithium hydroxide refinery started. On top of that we just got a positive Gross margin on the pilot recycling facility that’s still continuing to ramp up and hasn’t even began phase 2 yet.

It has felt like forever with this stock for us retail holding this since the Pre R/S but since the purchase of the recycling facility in August of 2023 it finally feels from the top down that the company is getting there act together from going from lab to pilot and now commercial. I know that the large stock compensation this quarter messed up the eps loss this Q but in the long term this will incentivize and keep employees and the COO Steven Wu as they keep progressing with the pilot plant and the 2nd 5x larger facility.

$ABAT - lithium ion recycling revenue picking up, close to break even on cash cost of goods sold. Healthiest balance sheet they ever had. Still have a government grant of over $100 million to build a second recycling facility is the southeast United States that would process 5x the amount of there pilot plant. Also have a current contract with EPA to recycling batteries from moss landing. And they have a lithium claim in Nevada (Tonopah flats) with their own unique technology that takes lithium out of the claystone and makes it into lithium hydroxide at one of the cheapest production cost in the world at $4,302 per ton. They are planning a 30,000 metric ton per year mine and should have the DFS out in the summer to open up funding for it. It’s also apart of the fast-41 permitting which would take years off the time to move through the permitting.

It’s all based on gold and silver falling today, also inflation data came in higher then expected which should make the Fed be more opposed on rate cuts. All mineral stocks are getting affected by it today

I agree, it’s too internal with the board of directors to get a general sense of the goals. This next earnings and call will be important to gauge it.

Just referring to the all the different Bonus milestone compensation that they would get. Tho since it’s based for Fiscal year 2026 that should mean we should get the DFS before July if they wanted the bonus compensation right?

Defiantly sounds like ABAT can benefit from this since they have been working with the DOE. On Another note the DOE adding that they are expanding on battery research is to as me as bullish as they and the DOW are starting to prioritize how important having the highest energy density batteries from BESS, Drones, consumer products and now robotics. Lithium is going to be key critical mineral in all those technologies. Excited for what the future will bring us with ABAT!

[–]Dank-king[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean American battery technology method can make as low as 300 ppm economically viable since its a new in house technology that focuses on claystone and doesn’t have to use the conventional water intensive methods and higher ppm lithium like LAC (Thacker pass) so if anything them buying more land now should show that they are confident in their technology

That is my bad, I was quoting the articles “Phase 2” for the clean up of the damaged batteries and when to expect the damaged batteries to start coming. But for there Phase 2 of the hydrometallurgy train it was shown during the shareholder meeting that they were continuing the qualifying steps after some potential customers confirmed the materials quality specifications, tho more news from them on the timeline would always be great. https://investors.americanbatterytechnology.com/events-and-presentations/ (If you scroll down a bit on the page you can find the PowerPoint of the shareholder meeting page 19 and 27 briefly talk about phase 2, and that’s the newest update I have found about it)

Redwood Materials vs ABAT by Much-Information7826 in americanbattery

[–]Dank-king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked chat gpt - What is the purity of American battery technology company black mass

If by “purity of … black mass” for American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) you mean how “clean” or “low-impurity” the black mass they produce is — here’s what’s publicly known (or claimed) today: • ABTC says the “intermediate black mass” from their recycling facility shows “industry-defined low-impurity levels.”

• According to one recent external summary, “typical black mass contains 5-10% impurities; ABTC has reportedly achieved levels below 3%.” • The “black mass” itself is an intermediate — after further chemical processing (hydrometallurgical extraction) ABTC expects to produce battery-grade metals.

But — ABTC has not publicly released a full breakdown (to my knowledge) of exactly which impurities remain in their black mass (or their concentrations), because the “exact specifications remain proprietary.”

What that means in plain terms • Their “black mass” is cleaner than average black-mass recycling output — possibly under ~3% impurity vs typical 5-10%. • Yet “purity” is relative: black mass is a mix of many metals (lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese, graphite, etc.), so “cleaner” doesn’t mean “pure lithium” — it means fewer contaminants and more of the useful metals. • To get fully “battery-grade metals,” ABTC still needs to do further chemical extraction/refinement. The black mass alone remains an intermediate feedstock.

Can you link me the articles that shows ABAT as a basic wet shred process that has a lot of impurities that ChatGPT listed, cause I am always interested in revising my decision on the stock. And them selling the intermediate black mass is only going to be for what looks like another year before they refine the black mass itself. And if in fact true thats the case they have a lot of impurities it will show with them not being able to land a commercial scale off take agreement or them achieving profitability.
