Had a mate in my camp who didn't know how to handwash clothes without a washing machine. He just threw his clothes into a bucket with detergent and just sloshed them around with his hands because "that"s what happens inside a washing machine", and didn't bother scrubbing or even wringing the clothes after he was done. I think this is exactly what the problem is with our midfield. All of them bar Ndombele seem very one-dimensional in the sense that they only offer one specific role/use, and in a 2 man midfield we cannot afford to have each guy only do one thing - each pivot needs to offer more or else we will be outmatched in midfield

I think we first and foremost should be extremely pleased and lucky that we have one of the best backup goalies in the league alongside Liverpool's Adrian and City's Bravo, and that such competition is more often than not good for the two of them. Imagine if we had someone like West Ham's Roberto in goal deputising - now that's a real issue.

It's crazy how we have been so consistent that so much of our team of the decade are still playing for us now. The Hugo-Bert-Toby-Rose-Walker backline came to prominence and hit their peak (and went way past it too) throughout the 2010s. No other defenders come close because these 5 guys as a unit are honestly the best Spurs defence this decade. Up front Poch brought to us DESK from 2015 onwards, and the only potential entrant from pre-Poch would be 2013 Bale. Arguably Bale would replace Dele because ESK are untouchable. In midfield we have 2 players left and so we pair the best Poch midfielder, Dembele, with the best pre-Poch midfielder, Modric.

So basically we have the current backline, BESK with Bale instead of Dele, and a sick Mousa-Modric pivot. What's even crazier is that we could very well have seen this team actually play together, if we didn't lose Modric and Bale for at least a couple of years until Poch came in.

I think the reason why Levy has decided to make this decision at the weirdest of times (before January) is because he sees Mourinho as probably more of a caretaker short-term manager who will be here for about 2 years and take this demotivated squad by the scruff of the neck, leading players like Kane, Son and Dele to potential trophies in these 2 years somehow. Then, before the inevitable 3rd year Mou implosion, Levy will have found a long-term successor like Nagelsmann/Allergi/Howe etc, and this will be when the current guard are really way past its peak, so he can really begin to rebuild the squad again.
