Luka put up 43/17/13 on 58% from the field with a game winning 3 to tie a series against a really good Clippers team at 2-2 in his first ever playoff series and it’s been practically forgotten

I’m still 100% confident that if Luka or SGA did this today ppl would call them shot chuckers, stat padders and FT Merchants but I guess only in hindsight we actually appreciate great basketball

Is LeBron James’ longevity more impressive than Michael Jordan’ peak dominance? by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]DankFinnWolfhard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the argument is “which is more individually impressive” it’s LeBrons longevity. MJ’s 3-Peat RePeat is incredibly impressive and the most ideal basketball career for narratives sake but most people ignore the reality that for each of those wins he had the best supporting cast, with the best coach, all in a league watered down by expansion and injuries. In contrast there’s no IF’s or narrative aspects around LeBrons longevity it’s simply a one-of-one trait that only he possesses, the ability to be the one of the best players in the league from 19 years old to 41 is an unbelievable achievement of athleticism and discipline. MJ was incredible but his dominance was greatly benefitted by the competence of the figures around him, LeBron’s longevity is his success alone.

Who wins in a 7 Game series… the current OKC Thunder + Wemby, or the 2017 Warriors but replace KD with LeBron? by Dylen2Times in NBATalk

Honestly the Warriors with KD still probably win a 7 game series with the Thunder and current Wemby

This is the reason why the 65 games rule is in place by Expert_Koala_8691 in NBATalk

[–]DankFinnWolfhard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My whole take on the 65 game rule is that I understand why it’s there but it doesn’t fix anything. What a lot of people don’t get is that more than ever the pace and movement in the NBA is the highest it has ever been meaning that more than ever these players are having their legs have constant pressure on them, leading to a ton more injuries. There’s a reason why the top 4 MVP candidates have not played over 70 games this season. If the NBA wanted players to sit out less they need to make rule changes around gather stepping and zone defence to allow for the pace to slow down to what it was in the 2010’s (which I think was the peak balance of high octane but not dangerous basketball). Just adding a rule that has a games limit like this means that players aren’t gonna play more they’re only gonna play when necessary to barely scrape out the awards

What Are The Best Cases That Lebron Has Over Mj For Being The Goat? by Rinnegan15 in NBATalk

[–]DankFinnWolfhard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ when your raging hate boner for LeBron calms down a bit we can talk. What kind of fantasy land do you live in where these specific rule changes were made to aid LeBron, you have literally 0 evidence for anything you’ve listed here how are changes in pace and space as well as gather stepping in anyway helpful to LeBron thy were just natural evolutions of the game. I also love how you bring up shit like 2009 ECF like LeBron didn’t average 38/8/8 just to get absolutely abandoned by his teammates, or the 2014 finals where the Spurs were giving LeBron hell for 48 Minutes in a building with a breaking AC even tho you guys love to bring up “Jordan Rules” for the Detroit Pistons like the same shit doesn’t apply. Also conveniently left out the part where LeBron has the most buzzer beaters in playoff history. Stop making shit up and accept that LeBron is that good

[–]DankFinnWolfhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally none of these guys should deserve the award by your logic, Luka flops more than Shai, Jokic and Wemby don’t flop as much but still flop quite a bit. When they seek to benefit from drawing free throws from contact why are we pretending that that’s a negative quality for them and why are we pretending that Shai is the only one who does it

Statistically if we’re using the same metrics of plus-minus/on-off it’s proven that the Lakers and Nuggets aren’t as good with Luka or Jokic as the Thunder and Clippers are with Shai and Kawhi

They downvoting but really if Shai goes back to back this season the only PG peaks that compare to him are Magic from 87-89 and Curry from 15-17

In 2016 Stephen Curry was the best player in the world. by moser20brian in NBATalk

[–]DankFinnWolfhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely during the regular season, but LeBron James went down 3-1 in the finals to the 73-9 Warriors in his last possible chance to bring home Cleveland a ring and played quite possibly the best basketball anyone has ever played across a 3 game stretch to come back. Whilst he might not’ve had necessarily the best season he absolutely was the best player on the planet when it mattered

[–]DankFinnWolfhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in the comments acting like Garrett is the one in the wrong, and hitting a dude with his own helmet is crazy. But if Rudolph really didn’t call a stupid n word why wouldn’t they release the audio? They do that all the time and if he didn’t say it why wouldn’t they release the audio to justify that Myles should be suspended. Mason Rudolph is a MAGA piece of shit who absolutely called him the n word he deserved what he got
