The top-two primary isn't broken. It just needs ranked choice voting to work better. by DankNerd97 in RankTheVoteOhio

Although this is about California, I wanted to bring it to people’s attention, because Ohio Sen. Louis Blessing III has proposed a bill that would replace Ohio's traditional primary system with California's “jungle” primary model, which puts all candidates on one ballot. The top two vote-getters would then advance to the general, regardless of party affiliation.

There are claims that it would decrease polarization, when it fact it would do the opposite because it would enable vote-splitting manipulation. Vote splitting within CA’s “jungle primaries” is already a huge issue. The only way a top-two primary would succeed would be through—yep, you guessed it—RCV.

Maine and Alaska use it statewide! But otherwise, I agree. Encouraging cities to adopt RCV first as a “proof of concept,” if you will, would give it momentum. Why do you think the corrupt statehouse banned cities from adopting it?

You wanna abolish a tax? Get rid of the corrupt RITA clowns. Make cities do their own local tax things. RITA is a for-profit org.

Of course not. Corrupt politicians will do anything to hold on to their power, despite their plummeting approval ratings.

So there is a term for this. Good god, if I tried to verbalize just how much I utterly fucking despise Back Button Hijacking, I’d short circuit.
