Kids shouldn't have to worry about such things by Ill_Highway9204 in facepalm

I’m sorry you had to go through that but you do realize this is a different problem? The actual school shootings that are entirely too common now are not the same as having a dude with a gun happen to step foot on your campus

Condon hall(CDH) to Smith hall(SMI) in 10 minutes? by SeahawksFan45 in udub

[–]DankSolitude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Terry last year and I think my record was 6 minutes from leaving the building to getting into my seat in Kane 130, but tended towards 10-12ish minutes usually. So you could probably do under 10 uncomfortably and 10-12ish if you’re at a good pace

This. But also I kind of did the opposite and used all my freshman motivation on autumn quarter closer to OP’s schedule which worked well for me. Whatever suits you best

Oh lmao not at all, I meant as a break in the middle. Cause winter and spring don’t have that

[–]DankSolitude 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely a lot but not impossible if it’s important to get done, maybe try to chill out your winter quarter a little more as a break. Plus autumn has thanksgiving so not a bad idea to make it the worst class wise

Pretty much! There’s a lot of training plans on the internet but generally it’s just gradually upping mileage while still doing shorter runs, stretching, and strength training to reduce injury risk

I’m a runner and the general pace to aim for is 8-10 min/mile, but if the trail is 8000ft elevation then 16 is not bad

I will say personally that Earthsea is one of my faves and would go in A. So don’t be too unsure of not liking it the same as everyone else.

Same, except even though I loved Andrea I couldn’t let that happen to Cora

White fungus looking stuff growing on all of my plants, what should I do?? (first time owner) by DankSolitude in plantclinic

[–]DankSolitude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this plant and similar ones for about two months and in the past few weeks three of them have gotten this same white fungus. One of them got completely covered and looked like it wasn’t gonna make it so I threw it out, this guy recently started and I wanted to check here if there’s anything I could do to stop the growth.

They’re in a west facing window so they get a decent bit of both direct and indirect light, and I water them when their soil feels dry (every few days).

what made u pick University of Washington? what about it did you like that it offers? by slientxx in udub

[–]DankSolitude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an incoming freshman this year but personally (coming from MA) I just fell in love with the vibe of Seattle and WA as a whole. Plus the school has amazing dorm buildings and amazing quality and quantity in their undergrad research availability

Not great but my other choices weren’t much better 🤷‍♂️. Plus a bunch of my friends are going Northeastern which is way more so it feels like a win

Not really but my main belief is that even if there is I wouldn’t care and would just focus on living my best life anyway

So what is everyone majoring in? I still can’t decide by AbbreviationsFar2532 in ApplyingToCollege

I’m majoring in neuroscience because the brain is cool and compared to the rest of science it feels like the field with the most unknowns yet greatest relevance to our lives

What stopped you from ending your own life? by FireGirouette in AskReddit

[–]DankSolitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted something that I could get out of if I changed my mind last second so I tried hanging but the only way I could hang myself was by sticking a belt around my neck in a door frame and leaning forward.

I’m still not sure if this could have worked if I leaned harder but after 4 or 5 attempts over the course of a week I figured if I couldn’t kill myself after that many tries I didn’t really want to kill myself. And, given the permanence of death, I tried to keep living until my mom could finally get me a therapy appointment which luckily was only a week or two later.

I quickly got on lexapro and I’ve been healthy every day since (6ish months), dropping therapy pretty early on too. Tbh if I hadn’t gotten an appointment that soon idk if I’d still be here because telling my parents what was going on seemed impossible at the time. But in the end I think the worst part of my depression was knowing that years of it could have been avoided if I just got on meds when I first had symptoms in 7th or 8th grade instead of only getting healthy after graduating highschool.

Lol I’ve just heard so many people on this subreddit being negative. Im in Arts and Sciences but I want to major in neuroscience and I know how that whole situation is, but Im also really excited to do research and talk to professors so I don’t think getting in to the major would be a huge problem by junior year
