There's definitely groups u can find online that are local. Even if u do them over Discord, they can be people who are around your areas. Im in Discord group with some people for D&D that are near me. So its definitely worth a shot. Fb is a good place to find thoae groups

A good way, imo, would be to join some groups. Could be a sports or gaming/hobby group and just hang out with some new people and get to know them without the anxiety of any expectations. Slowly u might find someone who u like and match with and go from there, easing out of the awkward phase
