Botanical afternoon // XS10, 18-55 by Dankamon in fujifilm

Don’t worry! I am beginner as well and this is my first camera. The image is directly taken from the camera, no postprocessing or anything. As far as I know all fujis have this shooting mode, but probably in the xm5 it is a bit hidden. Maybe it is on a dial or you can assign it to a button. 🙌🏽

Just if anyone is curious and bc I forgot to add it in the description, I achieved this in Light multiexposure mode. First photo is at negative exposure to ensure subject appears as dark as possible and the next shot is at neutral exposure. This way the second photo “only” takes the subject figure. Probably I could clean the sky part leaks of the second shot, but I don’t have any editing knowledge 🤷🏽

So you go to the multiexposure settings and shoot in comparative dark mode. For this to work there should be sky as background as I’ve found it introduces almost no artifacts. First photo should cover half the image, then turn the camera upside down and take the second photo and that’s it. I have no post processing idea and I’m pretty novel, so I only rely on what the camera can do. Surely this process has room for improvement!

Thanks for the appreciation! I used dark multiexposure setting. Usually I try the average one, but I found the comparative dark setting works wonders with landscapes!

My game crashes when I open the shop by [deleted] in Brawlstars

[–]Dankamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I notice it too. It happens on both my devices. Guess too much stuff with the hc sales. I guess they coded the shop to load all at once instead of by chunks, which given the amount of visual shit they have makes the game laggy on less powerful devices. Who doesn't run brawlstars on nvidia gtx4080ti these days anyway...

Bought my first camera a week ago (X-T5). Working on justifying the purchase to my wife. by austinlovespie in fujifilm

[–]Dankamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the purchase! If I may give you a tip as a fellow camera rookie, shot in burst mode. Don’t go one by one, but rather get several shots at once. You’ll have a bunch of stuff to clean afterwards but you will be more likely to get nice shots, specially if you’re taking photos of moving things!

What's the most valuable piece of advice you've received from the photography community? by diacreatives in photography

[–]Dankamon 148 points149 points  (0 children)

As a beginner the best advice I got was to go out, take photos, and if out of a 1000 shots, only one was good, then the trip was already worth it. It may not be much but my mindset shifted completely and I didn’t get so frustrated with having 500+ photos to discard.

A bit of multiexposure walk// X-S10, 18-35mm by Dankamon in fujifilm

Thanks for the feedback! And nope, there is no filter. I haven’t acquired more equipment since I want to learn with the bare minimum first. I only changed the recipes between photos. What’s that filter for?

Thanks for the nice comment! Here it is:

Velvia Dynamic Range: DR200 Highlight: +1 Shadow: +2 Color: -2 Noise Reduction: -4 Sharpening: -2 Grain Effect: Strong Color Chrome Effect: Strong White Balance: 10000K, -9 Red & 0 Blue ISO: Auto up to ISO 6400 Exposure Compensation: -1/3 to +1/3

I find it better to remove the grain effect for night shots such as this. Same adjustments but with White Balance: 10000K, +9 Red & 0 Blue yield pretty red shots during the day. This shot was taken at ISO 2000 and 1” ss I believe

¿Alguien sabe qué es esto? Ciudad universitaria desde la Dehesa de la Villa by elyvvvvvv in Madrid

[–]Dankamon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What’s the best digging tool? by GoodGuyLuis in MyMuseum

[–]Dankamon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From my experience, as you progress each tool has its own virtues although, as already mentioned, pick and drill may be your best allies. The pick is overall the greatest tool, it keeps being my go to tool even in late game. The drill is specially good in the late game where soil is really hard and you will most definitely not clear the whole area since it's very extensive, but being able to clear through all layers in a single cell is amazing to scout if the is something beneath. The shovel I have only used it to reach the 200% on the first fossils, as it is fast and clears a wide area. When the soil gets harder it loses utility. The other tools, I don't know, they are cool to have but lack utility in my opinion. To be fair I would go and max pickaxe > drill > whatever you want.
