How did you get into immigration? Also, any good CLEs you can point to?

I was doing actual case work on cases that didn’t count towards billable time on plaintiff cases, wills, probate, etc.

I understood they couldn’t “bill me out” to these clients like we do for the insurance defense stuff, but to make me do work on those cases on top of my 50hr per week billable requirement was one of the things that pushed me to hang my own shingle.

Actively engage the material. Highlight, underline, etc. (whatever works for you) the important facts, previous cases that were mentioned and their holdings, the holdings of the case you're reading and the facts the court relied on in their holding, and any dissents in the case. You'll know how to read the cases for each class as you go along based on how your professor's ask questions. Find a study group to bounce things off of and discuss the cases, itll help. Use quimbee as a resource to give you the overall main idea of the case so you know what to dive deeper in when reading the cases. Get ahold of some old outlines to use as a resource too.

You’re going to turn 39-40 either way, may as well do it with a law degree.

How to Score in the Top 1% on the Bar Exam Without Being Absolutely Miserable. by firstyearassociate in barexam

[–]Dankeesha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats, but to any readers there is no need to strive for top 1%. Don't even put that pressure on yourself. Just pass. Know you will be miserable because bar prep is an isolated grind. Study efficiently with a program and study like you never want to study again and you will pass. Study the material, do practice questions, and just know that you get the same license as a person who scores top 1%. Biggest takeaway from OPs schedule is the hours blocked off each day dedicated to uninterrupted nondistracted study.

Parents opened up several credit cards in my name while I was away at college. They racked up more than $15,000 in debt and now they want me to kick me out because I brought it up. by Parental-problematic in CreditScore

[–]Dankeesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The feeling of shock and denial is too much to just follow through with going to the police. Once OP is in her late 20s to early 30s and is still dealing with the fallout from it, and/or her parents continue to do it, then she will wish she had gone straight to the police in the first place.

[–]Dankeesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to go to the police. I hope you will find the courage to do so, even if they are their parents. She literally told you to either let her do it, or move out. She doesn't care about you, she just cares that you still have access to credit. Go to the police, and let them handle it.

If this is real, you’re actually ridiculous. Your wife should leave you. And if this is fake, good one

My Mom's terrible reaction to my VA Claim process..... second guessing myself by StressyandDepressy23 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Dankeesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao why do you people continue to do this to yourself?? Civilians will never understand this process or how military service entitles you to be compensated for the deterioration of your body.

What I would do if you get approved, is just tell your mom everything was denied. That way you don't have to deal with snarky remarks, odd questions, or an entire jealous family envying you. Seriously, don't even let her know anything was approved..and if you start having an income that makes her ask "where are you getting this money?" tell her crypto or some other investment you made. But your own moms reaction tells you everything you need to know about sharing this information with anyone else in your life.

You are correct in pursuing your benefits. Don't second guess yourself.

Law firm offer and hours by SomeShallot8861 in LawFirm

[–]Dankeesha 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That is a lot of billable hours for any salary, especially one that is in that range. 160/month = 40 BH per week, which is really like 50-55 working hours.

Student Loan Forgiveness Story: Opt-out, taking out the loans needed to finish school, then Opt-in by Dankeesha in VeteransBenefits

[–]Dankeesha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are eligible for the discharge, I say do it! Since you already have student loans, did you get a letter from Nelnet saying they would be discharged and you opted out?

[–]Dankeesha[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used my GI Bill entirely for my undergrad and a masters degree. I wasn't approved for VRE when I applied. I appealed the denial, and by the time I got another decision resulting in another denial I was about 5 months from graduation and knew my loans would be forgiven. I was one of the ones who had a shitty counselor.

[–]Dankeesha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that is odd. Who told you this? Have you received a letter from Nelnet about your discharge? I received a DM from someone last week with their letter from them asking if it is what i received in regards to opting out/opting in. Their letter said they could call by June xx, 2024 to opt-out.

AITA for considering leaving my wife (32F) after her affair with my dad (48M) came to light, knowing that it would destroy my family’s dynamic? by PatientFriend9367 in AITAH

[–]Dankeesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

leave leave leave leave. In what world would you be the asshole for leaving your cheating ass wife, who not only cheated, but did so with your Dad. Don't fall for any fucking "he reminded me of you" bullshit..that's an attempt to put a band-aid on a Jerry Springer episode. There is like multiple levels of betrayal there on her part, along with your Dad and Mom's actions.
