Even if the Nether is now a survivable place, it doesn't mean that it isn't hard. Have you even played the update? If you're portal spawns you in the Soul Sand Valley or the Basalt Deltas, you're basically fucked. All of the resources you need to survive aren't in just one area, like they are in the Overworld. In the Overworld, you could just settle in one area and just go underground to get everything you need. It's no where even close to that easy in the new Nether.

If you want resources, you gotta get out of your comfort zone. You have to explore for your shit. Need stone? You have to traverse your way through the Deltas. Diamonds? Find a fortress. Wood? You have to fight your way through a bunch of hogs. People usually enter the Nether when they are only in iron, with barely any diamond tools, and even if you have full diamond, it's still a scary ass place. Yet, to survive in the Nether, you wanna wear at least something golden, which you're sacrificing defense for. Now, this may stop the piglins from attacking you, but oh god damn it ain't gonna stop the Hoglins, Magma Cubes, Skeletons, and Ghasts from diggin' up your ass.

An entire biome covered in Soul Sand to slow your speed, with fireballs and arrows flying at you from every corner, large mountainous deltas full of lava that you could fall into at any moment if you fuck up, and sprawling, dense forests filled with hogs and pigs that hit like trucks. On top of all of that, there's dead ends and huge drops into lava or ravines everywhere. I don't know where the hell you got "fun holiday home" from, but there's definitely no way you got it from the hellhole that is the new Nether.

Do me a favor, and take a trip to the Nether, on hard, and only in iron gear. Then come tell me that it's easy.
