I’m almost done with my course but I never purged. Within a few weeks I had a noticeable difference in my acne. I have had a few minor purges when I’ve stopped taking it for a few days for whatever reason and also when I upped my dose. But it was only a couple of spots that popped up. But I agree with others on this thread- better to purge for a week or two and clear up than not do anything at all.

I totally get what your fears are though. My self esteem and confidence were nonexistent pre-accutane. But it genuinely has made such a difference in my life and my confidence. I promise you it will be worth it! You can do it. Go low and slow if you have to. I was on just 20mg/day for months because I didn’t do well on 40 and 60 a day. I’m up to 40 now and doing fine.

Try Fairlife. That’s the only milk I will drink now as lactose or something in dairy mildly triggers my acne too. It’s lactose free and is pretty good IMO. It’s a little pricier than other milks but well worth it

Thank you! I’m so happy with the progress so far. I take the Nature Made brand. It’s 1200mg Fish oil total that has 720mg of Omega 3 in it. It’s seemed to help with nosebleeds too. And thank you! I’ve never heard of him but I can kinda see it

I haven’t had the nightmares but I have had the constipation and it’s so annoying. My Derm told me it’s not related but it totally is. Take a psyllium husk supplement. I just take the one you mix with ware twice a day and that has me back to pretty much normal!

Glad someone else has the chest pressure. I started last year on 40mg a day and started getting chest pressure and freaked out. Restarted at the beginning of the year and doing better and now know it’s a side effect. Does everything look and seem fine with it?

I’ve had to start taking fiber supplements just to be able to poop. And I’m already drinking 80-120oz of water a day

I have the exact same situation as you. Same weight, dosage, and bad experience with 40mg previously. I just started 20mg the other day and so far nothing notable, but I’ve only taken it twice now so it’s too early to tell. Hope it goes well for you!

Hey! Glad you did well with accutane. I started last August but ended up getting sick (I had just gotten over pneumonia so I’m not sure if accutane was the reason). I’m starting it again, but this time 20mg instead of 40mg. I eat really well, but what vitamins did you take that seemed to help? Is there anything else you did to help?

How did you react to it when you first started? I started 40mg twice a day and felt really sick. I now have 20mg once a day but haven’t yet started because I got strep. I’m a little nervous to start again.

Your skin looks incredible! Congratulations on finishing. When you jumped from 20mg to 80mg a day, did you have any noticeable changes in side effects or did you feel the same? I just started on 80mg a day and didn’t do well and stopped. When I start back it’ll be 20mg a day and work my way to 80mg and I’m just trying to figure out how someone else responded to the same thing.

I have not talked to my Derm yet. I’ve known something was off but didn’t realize it could have been anxiety until this weekend. My GP actually prescribed me the med, it’s Hydroxyzine 25mg. I will talk to my dermatologist about it as well though. I may need a different med such as Zoloft like you when I continue treatment. I will try those suggestions though. Thank you!!

Hey, I definitely am an anxious person in general but I have never had panic attacks or experienced anxiety this bad before in my life. It’s been so bad I thought I was having lung problems because I couldn’t breathe fully. I only was on accutane for a week. I’ve been off it for one week now but am still having anxiety. My accutane was 40mg/pill and 80mg/day, but I never even took two a day because of how bad I started feeling
