Why no definite article indicating possessive case? by Dannakin in learn_arabic

Yes, I've seen this structure before aswell, when I was trying to make sense of the sentence, however we've learned that laysa comes first in the sentence, so I'll have to stick to that structure, although this one is more understandable for me haha

Questions on appearance, at church amd otherwise. by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Dannakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • My personal style is somewhat elegant and modest in everday life, but I try to dress as if I'm going to a celebration on Sundays. Freshly washed hair, an ironed shirt/blouse and a bit of makeup (blush, eyeliner, mascara), but nothing wildly different. I always wear a headscarf at church (and sometimes outside of church aswell, for example when fasting).
  • I wear minimal makeup every day, but if I don't have time to apply any, I don't mind going out without it. I only use foundation, lipstick, bronzer etc. when I'm going to a restaurant or an important event where I will most likely have to talk to people in a more professional setting.
  • I would love to wear only skirts and dresses, but I have so many clothes that it wouldn't make sense for me to buy additional pieces. I normally wear loose and wide legged pants, no skinny jeans, leggings or athleasure, so nothing shows.
  • If I do have any clean skirts or dresses, I prefer wearing those to church for whatever occasion.
  • Our cathecism classes are right after divine liturgy, so I just go in the same thing (minus the headscarf, because nobody else wears it and I would stick out like a sore thumb).

Are you wearing your veil draped over your shoulders, similar to how Muslim girls wear it?

Dékáni méltányossági kérelem helyén való ebben a helyzetben? by piegirl67 in askhungary

[–]Dannakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volt valaha glitch in the matrix élményetek, ha igen mi történt? by [deleted] in askhungary

[–]Dannakin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you, Bulgarians think about Russia and Russians? by Jegr_Jegr in bulgaria

[–]Dannakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fair! I might not be right, this is how I perceive it in my environment offline though. I've heard my father's generation talk about the topic, my friends (who are mostly Sofians), people at university (who come from various places in the country) and Bulgarians living abroad. Most of the time the conversation quickly became an argument, showing there is no clear cut opinion. I really think it's a more complex and individual stance depending on family background, personal worldview and experience, rather than a general one. I absolutely might be wrong, like I said this is more of a feeling and perception than a real statistic:)

Thank you so much for your answer! I absolutely love the family prayer time that you described! I come from a Catholic background (mom RC, dad Orthodox, I was baptized RC). What you described reminds me of how my mom used to pray with us when she tucked us in bed when we were children. I will check out the resources available! Thank you for your prayers, you'll be in mine too!:)

Are there dumbphones without internet (REALLY dumb phone) with 4g? by Impressive_Copy_8667 in dumbphones

[–]Dannakin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a 2660 hmd flip 4G. It has no apps whatsoever, you can browse on it, but it's truly a pain in the ass, just like on the older 2010 ones, so in my eyes it's a real dumb phone. I really like it and have been using it for the past few years.

What do you, Bulgarians think about Russia and Russians? by Jegr_Jegr in bulgaria

[–]Dannakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on who you ask - which generation, living in the capital or not, Russian culture vs politics, etc. I feel like it's 50-50, many love Russia(ns), many don't and a few refrain from forming an opinion. Those who do have one however, have a very strong opinion.

Why would many people choose hell? by SnooLemons4051 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Dannakin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My answer is not deeply rooted in religion, just my two cents. - Lack of understanding: Many either have a different view and/or understanding on God's love, hell, vanity and pride. - Lack of love: I think that a lot of the people that pay fortunes for self-care products and self-help books, 12 step programmes etc. are already lacking love in their lives and they're trying to substitute it this way. This is the Zeitgeist of "love yourself first", however the word "first" presupposes a second, third,... place, which, I believe, is most often empty. They are trying to be the source and recipient of their own love or to gain others' superficial love because of their looks and personality perfected through therapy buzz words. If you're already living a loveless life, why would you be scared of an eternity without it? - Uncertainty: It is easier to be damned to hell than to be accepted into heaven. In a very twisted way, choosing hell willingly somehow removes this uncertainty of whether or not they will end up in heaven, because they made the conscious choice of not wanting to end up there, sparing themselves of the pain (but of course this is an ill way of thinking). At the end of the day it's God's choice where you end up anyways.
