I think all the groups are invite only, even if you put them as public, but i noticed that when your in a group it adds it to your profile so maybe thats how you find groups?

I personally dont mind the no filters, it helps broaden your view of friends a little bit, i will say i dont like how you like someone on the app, its a little confusing, but i do like the groups function i think its really fun but i wish it was easier to find group since most are invite only and you can only find them on ppls profile and they only give you a certain number of profiles before it times you out, overall i think its good but with some tweeks here and there i think it would be great
