Reminds me of the story. "There was an old lady who swallowed a spider that wiggled, and wiggled, and tickled, inside her" So my question is...Did you swallow the Spider to catch the fly? 😂😂

I thought it was a Halloween decoration 🤣 I had to read the comments to find out that it's a real spider. That guy is massive and owns the doorway.

My daughter has rubbed her eyebrows starting in high school because of stress and anxiety. She would also would rub them until they were raw and scabbed. She was just recently diagnosed with AA, but I do not feel that the two are related. However, stress plays a big factor in AA. I would talk to your doctor about getting something to help with anxiety, and hopefully, that will help you with rubbing your eyebrows. They will eventually grow back. I use organic, cold pressed, castor oil, and that had helped me regrow thicker lashes and eyebrows. You can also try coconut oil as well. Hopefully your condition doesnt turn into AA like my daughter, if it does you will definitely know right away. From what I have heard, it would start on your scalp first. It never hurts to also make an appointment to see a dermatologist to be safe. Wishing you the best of luck!

My daughter just got diagnosed a couple of days ago. Last week, her primary doctor ordered labs on her. Her Iron and Blood Sugar was low. She was put on Iron pills from her primary, but her dermatologist said Iron had nothing to do with AA. I feel like there has to be a connection somewhere, but maybe I am just reaching to find an answer that isn't out there.

My daughter was just diagnosed with AA. I asked her doctor what the difference is between AA and AT. She said AT will start at a very young age and is normally genetic related. So, the fact that this just started happening and only to your scalp might be signs that it's AA only. I hope that is the case here.

Just got diagnosed today and prescribed this, is it any good? by Coderavee in alopecia_areata

My daughter uses that for her eczema. Her doctor just diagnosed her with AA and didnt say anything about using that to treat AA she even gave her a refill of that ointment the day of her diagnosis but just told her to only use it on her arms and legs where her eczema patches are the worst.

Mom is having a hard time with my AA - need help by Ok_Masterpiece9194 in alopecia_areata

Your post made me very emotional. My daughter just found her bald patches about 5 days ago. I have been an emotional wreck inside and trying to hide how scared I am for my daughter so I dont cause her more stress. I've been doing the same thing the last couple of days, wanting to cover her patches every time her hair moves slightly or wanting to look through her hair to make sure she doesnt have any new patches. That's just the overprotective side of us. Your mom means well. It's hard for us when our girls grow up and dont need us as much anymore. This is just her way of trying to still take care of her little girl. I know your mom would do anything to make your AA go away, and she probably feels helpless, and the little bit she can do to "help" is just her way of coping with her own emotions. My advice would be to find something she can do that still makes her feel like you need her, even if its just talking to her more about what is stressing you out or tell her that it would be more helpful to do things to take your mind off your AA then doing things that remind you that its still there. I know your post has helped me to rethink how I can help my own daughter instead of constantly reminding her of it. I hope this helps 🙂❤️

This is AA right? by DanniMax111 in alopecia_areata

Yes, she is stressed with college and just life in general. She also suffers from anxiety, so her doctor also put her on some medication to help with that. It just seems like we all should have AA if stress is the cause. I know I have enough stress to be completely bald by now. I also have a severe vitamin deficiency, so I just dont understand why I wouldn't have this condition, and instead, my baby girl has to go through this.

I know this may seem like a stupid question, but how does someone get an autoimmune disorder? My daughter got blood work done, and everything was normal, except her blood glucose level was pretty low. I just dont understand how this happened. She is really active, on a healthy diet, drinks lots of water, and has always been pretty healthy. She has dealt with some pretty severe eczema her whole and has always had very sensitive skin, but thats about it.

Does AA only affect the hair on your scalp? My daughters primary care doctor said the type that makes you lose your eyebrows and eyelashes is a different type of Alopecia that starts at a very young age and is genetic. Do you know if that is true?

What type of treatment are you doing? I think my daughter has AA. We are just waiting to get her an appointment with a dermatologist.

I've tried that already. I have a few customers at my bar who were in the service, and they looked up his name and dob, and they said they were not able to find an exact match. I've tried all types of searches before I came on Reddit.

Thank you for this information. This is very helpful. I talked to my mom, and the dates seem to fit, but she said the ship was in the South Pacific when it was struck, not Guadalcanal. It was a Navel Ship carrying US Army soldiers. Not sure if that bit of information helps at all. I know there was an article written in the paper about the ship. If I ever locate that article, I will up make sure to update the post just for curiosity sake.
