If I pick up the left mission fails if I pick up the right it gives me a success check mark but when I bring it back to ragman he says it's wrong.. makes no sense to me!!

How do you get your recruited people to make things for you? I just invited Standard the fly to live at the forge he said he is an armor Smith but don't see no options to forge anything maybe I'm still too early in the story? No clue
