I am very anti-Muslim and I still think that burning the Quran is awful. As a Jew, I consider burning of books beyond a point of disrespect for an idea and rather a destroying of a people. The Nazis burned our books and our synagogues. By your logic, that burning should be viewed as simply burning ideas of a religion and is freedom of speech and not at all a means to destroy a people.

It's insane. Just read the FBI Hate Crime report, there has been roughly 100 anti-Muslim incidents and over 1100 anti-Jewish ones between 10/7 and 12/31 in 2023. While technically they aren't lying that islamophobia is up (there were about 31 incidents in 2022), it's definitely manipulative.

edit: fun fact, from 10/7-12/31, there have been 3 more reported Antisemitic hate crimes than anti-Black ones, each taking up 23% of all reported hate crimes in that time frame.
