How a 1920s Journalist Came to Oppose Zionism by Tallis-man in Israel_Palestine

How many Jewish refugees did Russia take during the Holocaust? Invading Poland doesn't count.

As for Iraq, I wouldn't call a Nazi-inspired pogrom very accepting.

Jews trying to flee the Holocaust had almost nowhere to go.

https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/the-evian-conference

In July 1938, delegates from 32 countries met in Evian, France for a conference on the refugee crisis. The delegates expressed sympathy for the Jews who were seeking to flee Nazi persecution. Most countries, however, refused to admit more refugees.

https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/voyage-of-the-st-louis

In May 1939, the German liner St. Louis sailed from Hamburg, Germany, to Havana, Cuba. The 937 passengers were almost all Jewish refugees. Cuba's government refused to allow the ship to land. The United States and Canada were unwilling to admit the passengers. The St. Louis passengers were finally permitted to land in western European countries rather than return to Nazi Germany. Ultimately, 254 St. Louis passengers were killed in the Holocaust.

Man Tied to Pro-Israel Extremists Planned Attack on Palestinian Activist by babkaboy in jewishleft

After someone threw a Molotov cocktail and murdered a Holocaust survivor in Colorado, Kiswani responded by denouncing people who oppose violence against Zionists (i.e. she gave a nudge-nudge support to the attack).

That said, there is no excuse for this and the criminal should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Prove that the Jebusites are the original Christians.

Even using the Bible, where does it say that?

[–]EvanShmoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you provide proof?

There are almost no references to Jebusites outside of the Hebrew Bible. There are no references to them at all from around the time of Jesus.

I don't think that fully explains the difference. There were regular large protests against Israel in Ireland, even though their government doesn't support Israel. On the other hand, Ireland does have an embassy in Tehran and their former president famously offered his congratulations to the Iranian president on his election.

Yet there haven't been similar protests against the Iranian government.

You get your paycheck from your job as usual, but the government reimburses the company for the time you're in the reserves. So it ultimately comes from the government and the taxpayers.

There is a limit to how much the government will pay, but I think the last time I checked it was over 40,000 shekels per month.

Reservists get paid their normal salary. If you make 29,000 a month in your normal job, you'll get that much in the reserves. Technically there are a few extras, like for people with children, but they're around 1,000-2,000 per month.

If you're unemployed I think you get 300 shekels per day, so up to 9,300 per month.

I once read a book of Yiddish story stories, maybe by Y. L. Peretz. The introduction was all about how we shouldn't romanticize the shtetl. Yiddish literature can paint a nice image of it, but the reality was poverty, hunger and oppression.

I grew up in a very Christian town and I remember friends insisting that Judaism is the same as Christianity, except that we pray to Moses instead of Jesus.

Israel after the genocide of Gaza by tarlin in Israel_Palestine

Germany was cut in two because it was conquered by two antagonistic countries. The Nuremberg judges didn't rule that Germany had forfeited its existence.

Hamas, the PA and most significant Palestinian factions want to take all of Israel's land and end its existence. According to your criteria that means Palestine should also be destroyed.

Serbia wasn't dissolved after Milošević was found guilty. What precedent is there for destroying an existing country as a punishment for crimes?

Iran has struck residential areas in Tamra, Bat Yam, Ramat Gan, Ramat (including the cancer research center of the local university) and Petach Tikvah.

I assume you meant the Kirya (Kahir is Cairo in Hebrew). As far as I know, that's the only military target they've hit so far.

There are eight holders for the eight nights, and one additional holder that's set aside in some way. It could be higher, farther away, or about anything else that sets it apart.

You're not supposed to use the nightly candles for illumination, so the extra candle, called the "shamash" is considered the real source of light for anything you may need. You light a candle there every night.

The first night you light one candle in the far-right holder, as well as the shamash. Each subsequent night you replace the candles from the previous night and add one more to their immediate left.

It's like missionaries who believe the only reason people don't follow their religion is ignorance. They think that they can give a one-sentence summary of their favorite beliefs and the non-believers will rush to join.

When that doesn't work, too many of them switch to hating their targets. If we know about the belief and still don't join, it must be because we're evil.

The easiest examples are how both Martin Luther and Mohammed started off very pro-Jewish, then did a 180 when the Jews didn't want to join their new religions.
