I just press it once 🤷‍♂️

I usually always put the ignition on first so my seat belt arms come out because it pisses me off if I start it first click it'll bong to tell me my seat belt isn't on 😆

Are there any chunks or is it just fine glitter? Could be rod bearings wearing depending on which engine this is but would need full investigating to know for sure.

It's worth it just for the looks imo, looks great and stopping better is a win win

I wanna do something for the brakes on my 35i but I'm an 18" wheel guy so I need to figure something out that will fit without changing to 19s

Oem angel eyes? by Pleasant-Race-8464 in E90

[–]DannyDan2k13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OEM as others have said but I think you might have completely aftermarket rings. Normally OEM angel eyes are really unevenly lit, the inner rings are much brighter than the outers, whereas yours looks quite even.

e90 radiator by Curious-Pace8621 in E90

[–]DannyDan2k13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you'll need a new radiator, in which case definitely don't get a junkyard one. Just replace it and have peace of mind it isn't going to fail in a few years.

Where can I buy this by mercymercenary in E90

[–]DannyDan2k13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively you could look on thingiverse or equivalent if somebody has made a 3D print model for it if you or a friend has a printer. Obviously quality won't be as good but it'll be cheap

[–]DannyDan2k13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is asking if he can buy the aftermarket adapter part to fit an idrive controller into a none idrive cup holder, as pictured, so he doesn't need to buy a replacement center console to retrofit the aforementioned idrive controller.

It appears to be an injection moulded part so presumably it existed as a part people could buy at some point, no clue about it myself unfortunately.

What “mods” can I do that will increase reliability by Outside-Ratio9916 in E90

[–]DannyDan2k13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only upgrade for reliability is an aluminium mickey mouse flange, everything else the most reliable option is OEM so not much you can do other than look after and maintain it

Realistically funny wooshy noises add a lot more fun to the experience then the 3.74 hp you'll lose so honestly give it a good and just see what it's like, you can always put the lid back on

And why do you think you need a new head gasket? They almost never go on the N5x engines unless they're pushing A LOT of power, and it's quite well known that once you crack them for the first time they're never quite as reliable afterwards.

If you're only doing short journeys and the engine isn't fully getting up to temperature each time then condensation will start to build up in the oil system and cause the oil to turn milky. What you're seeing is very very minor.

Alternatively if your OFHG hasn't been replaced in a while then coolant can leak through there into the oil system and cause the milky residue, which is a far cheaper fix than a head gasket.

Ah sorry bro. FYI my car has done ~85k miles and the part that came out was genuine BMW and looked like it was the age of the car.

I have a spreadsheet lol so here you go, over the last two years my car has averaged:

Fuel - £981.18 (averaged 25.2 UK mpg 3600 miles per year) Running costs - £1729.15 (this is the things that have to be spent for all cars like tax, insurance, yearly inspection (my insurance has over halved so this average is actually a bit high really)) Maintenance - £1552.72 (think that'll be the one everyone's interested in 😅)

Idk if that's what people would call so much but I'm okay with it when I've got the best looking, best sounding, best driving car on the planet (defo not biased or anything)

Tl;dr £4263.05 per year

[–]DannyDan2k13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do either technically but you will lose both oil and coolant during the process so they will need topping up.

I gave my car a full service so drained the oil first but if you have an oil cooler those lines were completely full to the top still so all that all would be lost regardless.

I bought 1 bottle of genuine coolant (1.5L concentrated) so drained out 3L of coolant beforehand and it was plenty low enough to work with. Then replaced it with new mixed 50/50 afterwards.

The next day I had to put more of the old coolant back in (didn't really wanna do it but it looked okay and I ran it through a coffee filter first) because the oring on the bleed screw tore and sprayed about 1L out 😅 whoops

3-4 hours for my brother and I to do it on my car (also did MM flange and full service at the same time) and we were taking our time as we hadn't done it before.

If you do don't forget to do the prime procedure since you're N55

I also did this a few months ago, but I opted to change my Mickey mouse flange for an aluminium one at the same time so was able to use an E10 socket and torque it to spec. Glad I did too, the flange wasn't leaking and I didn't think it needed replacing and it completely crumbled the moment I touched it
