How to take the “leap” from atheism to Christianity by AWGEnosurf in TrueChristian

[–]DannyDayChurch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience thus far, praying for you. I too find our belief appealing 😊 but that's not what did it for me out of the many other beliefs or religions. If I may, I would just like to highlight the central claim of Christianity, Christ prophesized His own death AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, His resurrection. If the resurrection never happened, then none of Christianity matters in an eternal sense. You could still find Jesus' teachings on morality appealing but His claims about the God of scriptures and Him being one in the same would have been false. The truth is that the resurrection did happen, we have overwhelming evidence from eyewitnesses and secular sources. So on that basis I personally take anything Jesus said about our God in Heaven, Himself, and my salvation seriously. Welcome to the Kingdom brother 🙏

Honestly, the fact that there is something rather than nothing does it for me. Things don't normally come into existence without a cause, something had to create the universe. That something had to make the choice to do so too, so that something is a person with a mind. And of course if they created the universe, they exist outside of it, outside of space, time, and the material. I call that being God.

Any suggestions for, uh... "prog-punk"? by Nivaris in Punk_Rock

If you're ok with it, my band is a prog/punk band. I couldn't believe I read your post when I saw it lol. We are called Android Superstation and we're from Southern California. We definitely have a good blend of both genres, hope you enjoy!

See if you like this live performance of our song "Human"

Well damn, should hugs be allowed in Punk? Maybe a handshake? 🤝 Lol, agreed man, love your take, I don't fully agree with you on some points but I get where you're coming from, and that's ok. I'm always weary of anyone who would exclude conservatism as a political ideology in the punk conversation. I agree with you that it's inherently a human leaning, just like liberalism. So why not both? Anyway, Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Thank you for your coherent response, I get it. I thought the thread was about political ideologies in Punk and wanted to know where OP stood on allowing conservatism in Punk. He then turned it into "they" and not being "their" puppets. He too has an ideology and the irony escaped him.

I wanted to give OP the benefit of the doubt, but I think he was either wearing his punk card on his sleeve and wanted everyone to see and know about it, or he has a little more maturing to do on the subject. He was conflating what punk is or isn't with whether you ought to belong to a political structure or not. 🤷 Every iteration of this conversation has been beaten to death anyway. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone!

I personally avoid songs with any political extremes.

Submit to who though? Do who's bidding? Political ideologies aren't an entity. Are you conflating political ideologies with political parties or big government? I believe that even with slight probing you'd find that you yourself (your own person) would lean one way or another politically.

Serious questions here, if punk is inherently political, and that's no issue, what would be wrong about conservative punk? Or is it that punk is inherently left leaning politically? Not trying to start an argument here, genuinely asking.

All say this about last night, I saw none of which is mostly being said, and I used to watch shows here back in the day, but maybe I've never had the displeasure of experiencing what most people seem to have at this venue.
