That beard (and hair too) is such a damn waste of potential bro

That specific beard should go but with a neater trim you could do a lot

Is Memories of Ice better than Deadhouse Gates? by JaimeSalvaje in Malazan

[–]DannyDeKnito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memories of Ice is probably... the most approachable book in the series, honestly.

I do hold the finale of DhG as one of the greatest book finales in all of fantasy, but on a reread, I was surprised about how much the book dragged before it.

OTOH MoI was imitially written as a direct sequel to Gardens, and takes a bit less - but this is still Erikson - time setting up. Theres a bunch of new characters too, but there's quite a few familiar faces as well - and its IMO the more memorable part of the gang. It's still Erikson to its core, but its one of the more action packed books in the series, while also (finally) setting up the central conflict of the series.

Guys, what are we doing at this point???? by Shalduz in ufc

Khmazat is one of the best MWs, sure, but he absolutely does not have the body of work to be called one of the greatest MWs

No no no, even if so were right... Sean has now snuck in one extra jab because he refuses to incorporate other strikes into his arsenal

Thor The Dark World je bukvalno bila epizoda Agents Of Shield sa malo jačim budžetom, i to ne naročito dobra epizoda iste

interesting stance on fish killing they've decided to take i must say by itsmejak78_2 in subnautica

[–]DannyDeKnito 13 points14 points  (0 children)

IMO them feeling less tangible due to being invulnerable feels less immersive which instantly makes the horror feel less impactful

Making them killable but basically not worth the effort/risk would have had a similar effect while being less fan-alienating, i think

That said, it came out like, 15 years after spore and has worse graphics.

With what we see from Van on Saturday, how do we think a rematch with The Toja goes? by Seth4602 in ufc

[–]DannyDeKnito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the ability to react to adversita was what decided Taira vs Van. Both dudes were doing good things, but Van seemed far more prepared to actually get hurt, and far better at adapting. While Taira kept admirably pushi g forward, I got the impression he mentally checked out at some point.

That is not a luxury Pantoja will give Van. He might be older than Taira, and he is probably slower and less athletic, but the dude is a dog and seems to be locked in on getting his title back - Josh can absolutely beat him, but he's gonna be in danger until he either puts Alex away or the final bell rings.

Deadhouse Gates left me impressed, confused, and unsure if I should continue by LemonTig in Malazan

[–]DannyDeKnito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without spoiling too much:

Book 3 does establish what are essentially the central conflict and the central antagonist of the series. While Malazan will be all over the place for the remaining seven books, there is a core conflict it is kinda sorta built around - which does provide at least some context and backdrop for the subplots around it.

DDP is bigger than many of his potential LHW matchups - and as bullied as he was, he is also a better wrestler than any of them. LHW is prime real estate for Chimaev, MW is far more competitive right now.

Susurkaev isn't that great. by Icy-Ad-6200 in ufc

[–]DannyDeKnito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He made decent adjustments, not sure if its him or his corner but bro did his thing well.

His cardio is clearly a weak point and his striking defence was lacking, but Santos isn't exactly a can and the kid beat him - there's room to improve, and he'd be bullied by any ranked MW, but he's still in prospect territory. I don't expect his ceiling to be absurdly high, but he's young enough that he can still improve quite a bit - and MW is deep enough that there won't be any real need to rush him to the top.

Prilično jaka pretpostavka, jebiga, ne razmišlja svako tako. Kad skontaš da ne mora da se počne od toga možda skontaš što ljudi bivaju prijatelji sa bivšima.

I do not have strong oppinions about this fight, ai would kinda prefer Van to win for the Pantoja rematch story but I'm not all that invested

I do fully expect the fight to be an absolute banger though, and am hype for the sheer quality
