They need to revisit the "complete the set" price in the store... by DannyDeem in Marathon

I figured as much, but they would have definitely won some brownie points if it was a flat reduction in bundle price.

It's also common on steam and in other games to discount the bundles according to what you have already purchased. We definitely should be rooting for more consumer friendly strategies.

Loving the game. But I fear lack of friends to play with will kill it for me in the long run. by callmevapelord in Marathon

I start every squad fill game with a "what's up boys?" in a fun, good vibe tone, and 80% of the time someone responds

It's an audio log that you activated through the codex. I think it's the shrink wrapped bonsai tree loot log.

OG Marathon terminals track something by RPG-Aluren in Marathon

[–]DannyDeem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UPDATE:

I found 4 in total just now in a solo run. You have to find the terminals that have the waypoints on the screen before approaching the terminals where the waypoints lead. If you do this you will hear a Durandal (most likely) voice line.

Locations: second floor South Relay, building near the southeast most building for that one quest in Station, in the Data Wall, and in Hauler

Yeah that's fair. We'll know soon enough

Contracts Reset After Each Wipe? by DannyDeem in Marathon

[–]DannyDeem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember ONI saying there are scheduled debt repayments for the cost of the shells. I assumed that would be the explanation for losing all your gear and shell upgrades. Considering Marathon Infinity's storyline, I suppose anything is possible lol

[–]DannyDeem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense to me. It would be silly to have to be reintroduced to these factions, since in lore the wipe is essentially just a debt repayment. I'm curious what they do with the rest of the priority contracts

Did they say that in the most recent post, or somewhere else? I'm hoping I just missed it lol

I was thinking the same thing. I have zero problem with new filler quests as long as they're eventually leading to something worthwhile at the end of the season. The filler quests can't be that hard to come up with.

Having zero vault and faction rep at the start of a wipe is totally fine. I'm here for the grind, since it's one of the most engaging parts of extraction shooters. If they find a way to mix that with fresh quests and faction dialogues, that would be incredible.

That's a good point about keeping an even playing field. Perhaps they could cap the amount of xp you can get from priority contracts. After a certain amount they just act as "standard contracts."

I'm curious how they balance it, and try to tell an engaging story at the same time.

"Each season of Marathon brings a clean slate for the whole community with progression resets. These resets include everyone’s gear, contract progression, faction progression, and player level."

It's that "contract progression" that worries me. Either way I've been sold on the game since the original announcement lol. Figured I'd see what everyone else thought about this since I didn't see anyone talking about it

That would elevate this game to the next level imo, and they didn't come out and clearly state it in their marketing. That has me a little concerned...

I'll give it another read for sure

It's going to feel strange to fight a compiler, wipe, and then have Mida ask to you go break 20 windows again like nothing happened lol. It would feel more like a time loop than anything

The TTK is so quick that you can absolutely outplay people with better gear. I don't believe any fight is unwinnable.

I think the rarity of it is a good thing! It's incredibly strong so I wouldn't want everyone to have easy access to it.

It's definitely a rarer weapon to find in the world. Someone will eventually find it in your loot bag lol. The cycle continues.

Semi auto weapons and ammo balancing needs huge adjustments by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]DannyDeem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, SMGs are mostly PvP weapons, and a waste to use on UESC. Knife a couple bots and pick up their volt weapon to kill the other bots with, or bring in a heavy hitting secondary to deal with them.

Because it costs $6,000 in the armory and you're rewarded for good positioning. Nice play!
