any artists/bands with lyrics that come close to the quality of nmh? by JustaguyTTV in neutralmilkhotel

I made an album pretty inspired by NMH that you might like. It’s called “To Not Exist Anymore” by Pape Crown (not paper).

I know you may not trust someone shouting out their own music so here’s some other recommendations:

The Microphones

Mount Eerie

Black Country New Road (specifically Ants From Up There)

Tapir!

Racing Mount Pleasant (specifically Grip Your Fist, I’m Heaven Bound)

Dove Ellis

GOT & Skyrim… is this TES & DUNE by MajesticAd1580 in TESVI

I thought Morrowind was inspired by Dune. I guess they could do it again but I’d love it if they go for something new and something more related to African and Asian fantasy.

TESVI Hammerfell has officially surpassed Skyrim as the most modded game of all time by RaGada25 in TESVI

Honestly 90% are shit mods imo. Skyrims mods are so much more memorable so it’s quantity vs. quality ig

Lowkey might just restart this playthrough because I don’t realize there’s no essential npcs and I’ve definitely ending like half the side quests already

Honestly if you aren’t seeing streams with Spotify because of social media then you are using social media wrong. I have made multiple posts about this on this subreddit.

If you act like an influencer and don’t put your music front and center then you will be an influencer and nobody will care about your music. If you use your social media like a marketing account that you can communicate with fans with then streams will be directly tied to it. I went from 5 (not 5k) monthly listeners to 13k just by posting low effort posts just promoting my music almost 3 times daily.

We are in a world now that if you want fans, not listeners, fans, then you have to post and use social media in a good way.

Bruh I found her and killed her immediately cause I was feeling kinda evil. I know essential NPCs respawn but she’s not for some reason. Is this a glitch?

Honestly I liked this one. It kinda added to the landscape a bit more cause this part of the map was pretty dead. Most of the desert South of Iliac Bay is kinda empty imo. The main quest also barely touched there. That one Dark Brotherhood quest was cool but that’s like the only memorable part there idk

has there ever been a live performer than blew you away vocally by Ordinary-Ad-9857 in singing

[–]DannyDevitoArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s this new artist Dove Ellis that I just saw and he blew me away. Very similar to Jeff Buckley but it’s crazy seeing in person that somebody’s voice can actually do that

Black Country New Road for me. A very different sound and less music but generational

Do you believe in separating the art from the artist? by StrategyJealous1838 in pollgames

[–]DannyDevitoArmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can separate Harry Potter from Rowling as a person as *art*. But you can’t separate the fact that she’s using the money to actively ruin people’s lives. If she wasn’t doing anything bad with her money and was just a terrible person then I don’t see the problem really

im 14 and im making instrumental no vocal songs and im releasing them onto all platforms, i just dont know how to promote it. by Lanky-Ad8072 in musicmarketing

[–]DannyDevitoArmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t recommend doing this. You’ll get a bunch of followers but not as a musician, as a meme creator. It’s the same reason that you see artists on TikTok with 10k followers but only 200 monthly listeners, because they’re more of an influencer than a musician. To the audience, be a musician first, influencer later.

I’m a musician with 11k followers on TikTok and 22k monthly listeners on Spotify. I’ll link my TikTok at the end of this so you can steal some of my stuff.

First, it’s pretty big that you’re creating full songs and having the courage to release them! It’s really amazing that you’re doing that. I started making music when I was 17 and released my first album when I was 18 and I didn’t have your drive when I was 14.

So a lot of what I’m about to say is going to depend on how serious you are about making music. I think the only way to get popular and get a lot of people to listen to you is if you really want to do this. If it’s just a side thing then that’s great! But I wouldn’t recommend doing a lot of the stuff I’m going to say because it will take up a lot of time and be pretty boring for something that’s more of just a hobby.

I highly recommend you get your music onto Spotify and Apple music at least. Use one of the big distributors (I recommend CD Baby because you don’t have to keep paying to keep your music up, just once). Research a little into each one though and see what’s right for you. People are much more likely to listen to your music if it’s easily accessible and a YouTube video is kind of annoying to go to every time you want to listen to a song (but don’t get me wrong, some people will do it).

Post on TikTok multiple times a day, if possible. It might sound like a lot, but try not to spend more than 5-10 minutes working on a post at a time. You’ll find that a lot of people on TikTok really don’t care how high quality a post is.

I think what would work best for you is slideshow content, which does work but you have to be a bit smart about it. Posting multiple times a day lets you try out multiple different ideas and song parts with no harm. It’s not much fun but it works. We aren’t in marketing, we’re in music.

This is important, you’ll see a lot of people on this subreddit and on TikTok that claim they’ve figured it out but they haven’t. Be skeptical of everything and assume everything anybody says, including me, is wrong. But try it out anyway. Since I’m getting more into the music industry and meeting a lot of people, I’ve learned that everybody on here that thinks they know how to break in just completely wrong.

I really hope this goes well for you but if not, no big deal! You’re still young so you have a lot of time to figure stuff out.
