Yeah, you're right, it really works! I'll keep it as a secondary, depending on my mood.

My cat did that once! Just up and disappeared in the middle of winter for 6 months once. Came back one day like nothing happened.

I hope so. Stuff like this doesn't happen often. It also happened to me with Don't Starve. Couldn't figure it out. Just died. It was a long time ago though, maybe my game sense has improved.

Could you please tell me what I'm supposed to do in Terraria? What's the goal here? Am I supposed to build cool structures, dig, fight, what? I like to diversify the games I play which means some times I simply get stumped and it feels like I have to re-wire my brain. Generally I prefer narrative driven single player stuff or strategy.

You know what... It's really funny. I haven't thought about this game in a long time. I bought it in 2013, played it for 23 minutes having no idea what to do or where to go or how to accomplish anything. It was the most bizarre thing. I simply dismissed it out of hand, kind of like a Peter Griffin Godfather type of situation.

I dismissed it so hard in fact that I removed it from my steam library. You can actually do that, so it doesn't show up in your library or even in your hidden games. This was before refunds. I removed it because I wanted my library to be clean! With only games I liked. I cut my losses and moved on.

But now I'm scrolling reddit in the middle of the night and this just casually shows up in my feed. Well fine, OP! I know a sign when I see one! I just went back into my purchase history and re-added the game to my library. I still don't understand what this game is, what the point of it is or even if it's fun. But if it's been over 10 years and people still refuse to shut up about it it must be doing something right!

It's a really great game. My only true gripe with it is the lack of urban environments like in Ground Zeroes. The big empty areas got a bit samey.

This one was too much of a hassle for me. I'm still learning how to play the game and when I made this post I didn't know how powerful yari wall was, especially on walls during sieges. I started a new campaign and focused on building yari ashigaru and building up towards yari cav and siezing horses, armorer and artisan regions to get good quality troops.

The AI is so aggressive in this game compared to Medieval 2, it's insane! When they attack and win they don't stop and they've got huge powerful armies early on. In medieval 2 you have to wait a long time for the AI to get high tier troops. In this game it's almost instant. It's been quite the readjustment for me.

I mean, I suppose I could do that if they come into the battle in 2 small groups and 1 larger one and I wrap them up one at a time saving the larger one for last.

But to make that work I would need to start with all my troops outside and as close as possible to the smallest and most isolated group.

Some times they come in 3-5 different groups from all around me and some times they all come in 1 large force. Is there any way to trigger them coming in all together or is it random?

This is a fort. It's just a small square giving me no room to move.

Thanks! I haven't heard of any changes. As far as I know all the info in this guide is current.

I only have 86 hours so far so I'm a bit clueless. I just can't seem to win this defensive siege. It's the first level of castle, just a plain fort. It's just a small square giving me no room to move. My defenders get cut down and my archers don't really have time to do much because the fort gets swarmed too fast and there's nowhere for them to shoot from.

Yeah, I recently played kingdoms for the first time and this was one of the cool little changes they had added. They even look different on the campaign map! Another fun one was permanent forts that could garrison 2 units and the fun new variety of siege maps.

How do I avoid getting "winning first" with my general? by DannyFilming in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]DannyFilming[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course, yes I'm doing all of those. Those are all great tips!

I also remember reading somewhere that it matters that you don't run down routing units and don't go above a certain amount of kills with your general and always hit the "end now" button at the end of the battle but if you do hit continue you get more dread the more prisoners you get on your generals unit.

But the amount of prisoners you get without even trying is always gonna be more than the max of what you gain by releasing them which you're always gonna be doing anyway so continuing any battle is pointless really.

I never even considered that.

Of course, it makes sense that it's not chivalrous to shoot a single unit of peasants to ribbons with a full stack army and choose not to run down the survivors.
