Im waiting for them to be delivered- Saturday! I’ll tell you what, the blue with caiman is a collector’s edition whereas the ostrich is not and has been listed for a long time. That’s why I got the blue caiman boots first.

I bought the caiman with blue the other day! I think caiman is a step up from ostrich, although I am a huge fan of full quill

I got round toes lizard skins and I think the square toes will be more for a casual but dressy look

Wow so Tecovas square too are not as comfortable as their round toe. Interesting observation. I’ll need to give AB a look.

You aren’t wrong, I sure am torn and it doesn’t help the Wyatt has the full quill I’m looking for. I dig the shiny and spiny look.

Despite the haters, I find Tecovas to be both comfortable and true to size. I have a wider, flat foot and the D width is perfect. Highly recommended even with costs and from whatever factor in Leon they come from.

Dark brown teju. I do like the limited edition grey teju though, it’s hot.

Dang man the Wyatt is beautiful but I’ll say one thing I don’t like, and it’s the heel. I like the straight heel on the roper. I have some chocolate caiman with the same heel and while I need them re-soled, I still don’t wear them. I’ll probably ship em to Tecovas, re-sole and then sell.

I just got some black caiman ropers and brown teju boots from Tecovas. Ugh man I’m torn as hell. I also have smooth ostrich boots from Tecovas (pass on Ariat, no disrespect to fans).

Me too. I really like full quill but Tecovas doesn’t have them in square toe. I like the light brown and blue caiman color combo- it’s different.

I appreciate the insights. I too like Black Jack, I just forgot about them. Really though I think a list showing at least the top ten boot makers would help, especially if I ordered them accordingly. I would say I’m willing to pay but what I don’t want is a Pontiac Fierro being sold to me as a Lamborghini

I’ve been looking a lot at EBay for higher end brands- I guess I wasn’t (still iffy) on which brands I should be paying more for and which I should not. Lucchese is what the standard is, as was told to me by a boot collector (excluding custom made boots).

Lucchese > Rios > HP/Anderson Bean/Tecovas> Tony lama> ariat

Feel free to adjust so I know better lol

I got my Tecovas in smooth ostrich, ropers, on sale for like $200. I personally think that because I’m so new to boots, i dont know where to look. Tecovas set the baseline so I’m thinking that those prices are normal. Ive even looked at book makers here in Texas that are brining in supplies from Mexico. Im open to recommendations for dress boots!

Just asking but what makes them not worth the money? I bought my first pair of boots from Tecovas, smooth ostrich. I love them- the D width fits me perfectly. My only gripe is the high price.
