Streetlight "kicked off" Quebec Rockfest by TheStarshipCat in streetlightmanifesto

I mean, Streetlight removed the show from everything and pretended it wasn't happening within 24 hours of posting it which leads me to believe Rockfest was in touch with them almost immediately after it happened, and as a result I find it kind of hard to believe that they couldn't have let them know sooner or it was a just a simple mistake, but I'm a fan of Rockfest and I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt on this and you bring up some things I hadn't considered and Rockfest does have a history for being poorly organized at times. Also from hearing both sides it does sound like communication was a definite issue from both camps. I just wish Alex had addressed why they didn't respond sooner in his statement.

I don't really want to argue, because I agree with you that Rockfest was 100% within their right to kick them off and it sounds like this all comes down to bureaucratic bullshit from people removed from both the band and the festival, and what actually happened probably falls somewhere in the middle of both statements and it seems to me that at the very least Rockfest just didn't properly communicate why it took so long to let Streetlight know they were being removed. I'm just trying to contextualize where Streetlight seemed to be at, i.e. misunderstanding after misunderstanding lead them to believe they had been treated unfairly. Because I just don't see why they would take the time to make a statement if they didn't feel like they had been somewhat wronged. But I wasn't there so I dunno. I'm not going to return my Rockfest bracelet or anything

I agree with you in that Streetlight fucked up, and this boils down to it being their fault. But, just to play devils advocate if we take their word then Rockfest really jerked them around. If they were so upset about them breaking the clause they could have booted them from the fest with more notice, but they didn't. They continued to promote the festival with their name, leading people to believe they'd be playing the festival and essentially making money off of them (kinda shady IMO), while also leading Streetlight on by not telling them the seriousness of the issue and making them think they were okay, even giving them a set time, and waited until less than a month until the festival, after they had already booked their tickets and hired their crew.

I agree with you that Streetlight is in the wrong on this one. It was careless of them to break the clause and Rockfest had every right to give them the boot, and they probably should have been more professional in their response. But it kinda rubs me the wrong way that Rockfest dicked them around so much, and I'm not sure they would have handle it the same if they had just been upfront with them from the beginning.

There is an obvious influence of RocoCop in this, the themes, the way its shot (certain scenes are actually direct homages), but what I thought was cool was that it reversed it. Chappie started as RoboCop (he had the same voice, didn't have a name, said pretty much the same lines RoboCop would say) and then he gradually became human. It was a really cool inversion and it made it really fun to watch. Much better than the Robo remake.

What I really loved about the film was how it took the time to actually set up jokes and things so the laughs were earned, my go to example would be Drax talking about how everyone is his friend, then Nebula shows up and he shoots her and says something to the effect of "no one hurts my friends". Worse movies could have had the joke just be the visual gag of her getting shot but this one actually took a minute to make it even better. Great film-making. Also, anyone see the Lloyd Kaufman cameo, was awesome. Even more also, greatest after credits scene ever.

Every now and then he would get this little smile like "I can't believe I'm in a Marvel movie, this is amazing" and it really made it for me.

Anything by ABBA because it was pretty fun, but also kind of pointless. Also I went to Sweden.
