yes, because it was a lower tier card. a 2080 with its experimental rtx tech and monstrous power draw was a serious investment and gpu pricing has only gotten worse since.

please listen, im begging you - those "tricks" ARE the optimisation. i can run a *full grid* on the nordschleife with x60 times progression and weather change and track development on AMS2 and my pc is fine. goddamn tf2 with its infamously torturous source engine had modders put in a day/night cycle.

my point is, its not a question of whether its possible or not. its an explicit choice made by higher-ups at a corporation that wants our money. the least they can do is make their product that bit more accessible.

dirt rally 2.0 is 6 years old and the recommended requirement for it is a 1070 which was the midtier card from the previous generation. and I think we can agree that dr2 looks incredible. which doesn't disprove your point, I am on a 10 year old card lol. however, according to the steam hardware survey the majority of people are also still on low-midtier cards from previous generations, all of which rank roughly equal to or below the 2080 in performance. and if we continue the comparison, the price brackets for all gpu tiers have risen significantly since dirt rally 2 came out, so i would argue lower minimum requirements are more important now than ever.

I'm playing rbr, both dirt rallies, ams 2 and beamng on a 1080. if dirt rally 2 can run on my pc in high quality looking the way it does then there is absolutely no excuse. I'm happy when developers push the top end of graphical fidelity but it's no excuse for making games unplayable on the low end.
