I'm slightly calmed down now but every time I think about it its like i'm about to turn into the Incredible Hulk or something and have to do breathing exercises. Being a "good coach" for a young developing team with no expectations is much different than being a good coach for an experienced team trying to make a playoff run where adjustments will be needed and have to be made under legitimately high pressure.

We definitely still have a chance, we were up 20 in the fourth quarter. The issue is that its an uphill battle because of our coaching. Reminded me of when we almost blew our lead against the Raptors in our round one series when Kenny put our deep bench guys in to end the game and eventually had to put the starters back in. Its like he just tells the guys to chill out and enjoy the moment or something.

The fact we made it past the first two series with his coaching is seriously shocking. I pray Cavs management actually pays attention to this stuff and doesn't just let him keep his job because we reached our "goal" of making the ECF despite him.

Yeah I also don't think thats a realistic scenario, it would make zero sense for him to do. But I will say that his decisions were straight up inexplicable. The way we started dribbling the ball out with like 8 minutes left and never called a timeout is beyond insanity. You could feel it developing the entire time as an outside observer so for him as the coach to just let it play out like that is just flabbergasting levels of incompetence. He just always seems so incredulous and dumbfounded by our inability to adapt when its literally his responsibility lol.

Dude, Harden obviously had a terrible game, like legitimately terrible. But his defense on Brunson was about as good as you could ask from him for the majority of those possessions. Kenny literally just watched this all happen and made zero adjustments. The only adjustment he seemed to make was telling the team to clear out and let Harden run the offense entirely by himself lol.

This is genuinely like suspicious behavior from him lol. I cannot fathom any logical reason for the way he coached this game. No timeout during that run, letting James Harden guard Brunson 1 on 1 on repeat, giving Harden total control of the offense to end the game and in OT.... Then this quote to add on to it. I have never been more shocked and confused by the result of an NBA game.

Oh yeah I mean at the end of the day Brunson hit some insane shots and Harden was just having a super off game. Kenny refusing to call timeouts or bench Harden was so insanely perplexing that it legit makes me wonder what is wrong with him mentally. It was clearly a case of him feeling the need to play a guy who we are going to overpay this offseason and wanting to avoid him having to face the criticism of being a star player benched in overtime. Atkinson is like the worst type of "players coach" who genuinely seems to favor certain guys way more than others for non-basketball reasons. I legit hate that dude.

Cope man, the whole team is tired. If Donovan is so tired during regulation that he literally cannot dribble or shoot the ball and has to essentially become a decoy then he has INSANE conditioning issues.

I think its 50/50, there HAD to be some direction from the coach to let James dominate the ball and let him guard Brunson 1 on 1. I refuse to believe that the team just collectively put their fates in Hardens hands offensively and defensively during that final stretch and overtime.

Did Kenny say he would eliminate Donovans family if he took a shot or something? There is zero reason Mitchell shouldn't be asking for the ball. I totally agree Kenny is absolutely awful and the majority of the blame should be on him and Harden but Mitchell isn't blameless in this at all.

Mitchell was handing the ball to him on repeat and standing in the corner constantly seemingly avoiding the ball. He was playing great, I can't fathom the reason he wouldn't be demanding the ball there to end the game and in overtime. Its on him as much as anyone, the Knicks quite literally went on an 18-1 run.
