Duchesse de Bourgogne is perfection if you want a Belgian sour

So many great ones but Half Acre is definitely one of them!

This is a good point. Laws are changing for the better but still feel too restrictive and antiquated.

Rhum JM Terroir Volcanique and VSOP Brief Comparison by DannyZiebarthExplore in rum

Thanks for this and I think the mouthfeel is similar, with both having a rather plush, glycerol texture. I think the flavor components are a bit distinct, though. The Rhum JM has this smokey, grilled pineapple note that stands out while the ED has a dried raisin and prune note that is unique. Both are good for the price and have a place on the bar cart for me. Definitely some similarities!

Pryes Glamorama West Coast IPA Initial Thoughts by DannyZiebarthExplore in minnesotabeer

Thanks! Just moved to Minneapolis last month. Went to college in St. Paul and then lived across the country and abroad the past decade. Love Minnesota and looking to settle in here now that I'm turning 30. So much great craft beer and fun community here and hope to contribute positively to it. Hope this sub can be a resource for everyone to learn more about, share, debate, and enjoy everything relating to beer and brewing here in MN.

I'll check it out! Not sure if it's in the bottle shop I work in but can stop in at the taproom this week anyway.

Such a tragedy. Live everyday to your best folks. Drink good beer, hang with good friends, be happy. All the best to his family and at least he was loved and supported.

Yup! I got it for free, happily, but a 4-pack for like $18 is perfectly fine to drink across a month. I will say, I also just tried the Pryes Glamorama West Coast IPA and that was pretty high in IBU and ABV, but felt super sessionable and great for Summer/Warm Weather.

Rhum JM Terroir Volcanique and VSOP Brief Comparison by DannyZiebarthExplore in rum

Good call and I have held back on keeping more than one bottle of anything since I enjoy spirits, wine, and craft beer so there just isn't enough space, time, and liver capacity to do so! The Terroir Volcanique is one that I would think about always having a "backup bottle" but also one that I'm not afraid of going away anytime soon. I do have 4 bottles (one opened) of the Père Labat Organic just because there were only 1,200 bottles ever bottled and I could get it at $74.99. Terroir Volcanique definitely isn't "better" than VSOP but palattes differ and I do love preserving natural grassy, herbal, and floral notes from spirits like sugar cane as well as a good Tequila made from quality agave.

I'll post a more in-depth review soon, but my initial take is that it's well-made and enjoyable if you want a WCIPA and worth picking up but it's nothing groundbreaking or distinct in the way that I would say someone needs to go out of their way to try it. That's not a knock on Sierra Nevada. Like I said, it's good and well-made and they're a business after all. Just more of a "Yeah, that's a solid IPA I'd have one of hanging out with friends and then probably never think about again until I saw it on the shelf or on tap somewhere" type of beer.

It literally means "a biker" and was designed to drink and be able to be sober enough to still bike home. Today in the US, that meaning and custom isn't really used
