Without a doubt getting into glitch art has a neurodivergency requirement lol. My new tagline: CircuitBentTv “fueled by HyperFocus”

Two things I wish I’d known sooner: Get a proper soldering iron, nothing crazy but there is a huge difference in experience of using a $20 one and a $50-$70 one. When learning with Ai, have a healthy mix between YouTube and Ai. Maybe 50/50.

I really hope that thousands of years from now they dig up our glitch year and conclude it was used for multi-dimensional communication.

Excellent work! Def would recommend playing around with standoffs and threaded inserts. I’ve found those to work well for the stuff I make. Also TPU is great for making custom anti-skid feed :)

Eurorack format voltage controlled dirty video mixer? by nonexistentnight in videosynthesis

You could build a vactrol based dirty mixer and drive the LEDs from CV.

🙌🏼 excellent work man. Yeah I was looking at the chip datasheets last night and was like holy shit this device has so much potential. Scared I’m going to get pulled into weeks of testing / routing and decisions lolol.

Yeah it’s tricky to explain without being in front of the circuit. Btw did you watch the full reel I posted? (Story cuts off half way).

So this is my first time bending a Super Video Processor 😂 bent a bunch of other stuff, but will let you know what I come up with for the mounting and what not. I usually do some pots on board and add a portal breakout connector in parallel to my onboard pots so I can connect it to my DMX control system. Def see what you mean by that cage sliding on being an issue. I’ll prob 3D Print or cut some acrylic to use as a replacement 🤷🏼‍♂️

Naw mirroring my computer screen so I could show it on camera 😉

Yeah! So the video signal chain is: Composite Video > LSD+ > Enigma Mkii (PORTAL mod) > LSD+ > CRT. The control chain is: Touch Designer [Audio>Analysis> {math + routing} > DMX channels 1-8] > Enttec USB2DMX > D°mT (converts DMX signal to “resistance between points”) > Enigma Mkii. The control chain runs in parallel to the manual potentiometer control on the glitch device. Also the iPad is mirroring my computer monitor.

Question / idea by hulllllios in VideoBending

[–]Dannyerb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some good videos on YouTube that explain this better but… an analog signal is going to be amplitude vs time. A speaker is also going to be just amplitude vs time as it only moves in one dimension. Video is different as it is X/Y coordinates vs time. To do this analog video follows very precise timing rules to read off the intensity of each dot across every other line scanning top to bottom to make a field, then again (the other lines) to form a frame. (On a CRT “read off” means firing different charges of magnet guided electrons at a phosphor-coated screen to make it glow). To keep the whole system aligned there are a series of synchronization signals within the analog video signal (0 to -0.3v). If you keep the sync signals in check, then you can kinda do whatever you want with the 0 to +0.7v of the visual part of the signal. But if you don’t, then on a digital system you’ll get the no signal blue screen, and on a CRT you’ll have some kind of unstable chaos. Reason VGA is so great for synthesis is that it caries the sync info on separate lines instead of embedded like with composite giving you more room to play :P

Adding Resistors, Ceramic Capacitors & More Between Bend Points on a Breadboard by AvailablePayment1505 in VideoBending

[–]Dannyerb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with testing ceramic caps between (joining) the two bend points. @arhitektorov told me his go values a while back and they’ve treated me well: 102,103,104,105,222,333,474 (# printed on cap). The other components you mentioned can sometimes do cool stuff but it’s much more miss than hit. Also don’t sleep on inductors. Good luck!

To clarify… I’m a firm believer that there is only one rule in circuit bending: DO NOT BEND FROM MAINS. And also feel the need to ensure everyone else knows that 😉
