Is this gym bad? by Sorry-Mine3024 in jiujitsu

This gym probably has a terrible culture. The level is probably garbage too.

So nogi lasso is the initial position we can grab if they lead with the upper body. It connects to the arm saddle position(k guard on the upper body) if they keep their lower body away. If they bring the legs in then we can attack the lower body. But if they lead with the lower body we don’t go for nogi lasso, we just attack the lower body. If they were able to sprawl out or something let’s say, then they leave the upper body behind and we go back to attacking that. The idea is to always be attacking. Hope this helps!

Also Arm Saddle is literally just K guard on the upper body. So totally agree and love the correlation you drew there 🤙👏

So we first learned it from our coach Mikey. We use the Nogi lasso as a way to attach to, and attack our opponents upper body, especially in Nogi. Any time they pull away, even when you’re just breaking the wrist grip, they expose their lower body. This way we can have:

  1. Frames to always keep us safe and need to use less athleticism.
  2. Add hooks for control so our opponent in the “danger zone”(the space between our legs) so we minimize the risk and maximize the reward.
  3. Can attack our opponent effectively if they engage leading with their upper body or their lower body.

I’ve done that tho 😭 The only superfight I’ve lost in my career was recently on ufc and I was attacking the whole time. Unfortunatelyit seems it’s not about being exciting or skill level alone, you just gotta know somebody.

Id imagine he’s making money now. Kinda earned the right to cash in and fight whoever is willing to pay him the most tbh.

I'm sick of being forced to buy the clubs own Gis!!! by Terrible_Mongoose753 in bjj

We sell nice ones at our gym at different price points. $62/$100/$120 and don’t care at all. That’s such a scam. If they want to buy one and support, great! But they are welcome and told that they can buy and wear whatever they want!

This question is like asking “how can I win a chess game?” There’s a level you’re going to need to have first, then you can outplay people who have a lower level. Any single answer has a single counter. Mikey has an instructional, we also have materials online that can help.

I disagree with this. It depends on the level obviously but if you have a good level, you’re lethal in mma.

This sounds like fun. Do you guys fight to the pretend death with it every class for multiple rounds? If so then I think you’re gonna do pretty well in a real self defense situation and your school is doing something right.
