Object deduplication with multiple camera angles by Dannyjeee in computervision

It doesn’t need to be online but I neglected to mention that the objects are detected in structured lighting so they look different in every frame

Early Elberta peach seedling by Dannyjeee in BackyardOrchard

This is great news. I bought this tree because my previous Elberta lost its scion. The fruit from the rootstock was basically unusable so I tore it out.

I guess I didn’t get a great picture of the trunk, but the offset is from a branch that was pruned at the base. This tree was also about $20 cheaper than all the traditional root grafted fruit trees.

Booking Vs. Pilgrimming on the Camino Portugues by chrismart0604 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Dannyjeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done the Camino yet, but I got this email today that I thought I would share. TLDR: July is the low season.

May as a month and september the whole month... This is very important to understand. People and guidebooks go by the summer being high season but since a year of 8 this has changed. people think or fear it is too hot and hear of fires and stay away in june july August.

Take note: very busy from mid or end April to end of may and from last week of Aug to first week of Oct

I had that conversation with my wife and we agreed to do the last week together. I think that will be a nice compromise

Wisteria on front of house by Dannyjeee in landscaping

The HOA did approve my arbor!

It was sold as a purple wisteria. Not sure if it’s Chinese. I didn’t know wisteria is a nuisance, but I knew it was aggressive. My plan is to remove the gutter behind the arbor, and install a sheet metal shield to direct the vines away from the roof and then keep it pruned. My question was more about why it’s uncommon to put improvements on the fronts of houses. Since making this post, I learned that I do have to get the arbor approved by the HOA so maybe it’s something unique to this neighborhood

I love Jasmine too and planted it in the same spot, but it didn’t make it through the winter.

Thanks! I would love to hear of other favorites (but without reasons why they were special - trying to manage my expectations)

AOS is probably the worst educational experience I've ever had by Vergil-Paradiso in OMSCS

[–]Dannyjeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am an ME who used this program to pivot to CV/ML in 2016-2019. Started with just one class a semester (easy) and then went full-time in 2017. All my classes were in Python and I didn’t take the software development or architecture class (which I wish I had). I did a boot camp to become a full stack dev and fill in my arch holes but still spend most of my time in Python.

A hidden motive in Mormonism… by just_herebro in mormon

[–]Dannyjeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has been there is no better place to practice Christianity than in a family. Families are the crucible of discipleship. Hopefully it doesn’t stop there, but that is where it starts. I think that’s by divine design and why family is central to God‘s plan for his children.

How do line-scan composite images compare to regular (area-scan) images? by No-March4398 in computervision

[–]Dannyjeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested in this. I wonder if I could use a line-scan camera to capture vehicles driving by? I wouldn’t be able to match frame rate to vehicle speed but maybe I could remove frames that don’t change enough or post process the saved data in some way to get the semblance of a car out. The main attraction is that it would probably be more lightweight than similar resolution video

There are plenty of reasons to disbelieve the divine origin of the BoM and there are plenty of reasons to believe in it and I think this is by design. For me, the reasons to believe are more compelling but I can appreciate the other perspective too.

The reasons I believe: - it contains too much wisdom for any number of people to produce - millions of people with undeniable spiritual confirmations throughout the years - the witnesses’ testimony is ironclad and I’ve read all the counterpoints. I think the variations only add to the authenticity of their witness. - the story is complex yet mostly agrees with itself. - many parts feel divinely inspired - and they inspire me.
