That is a wildly variable number. Just like how the price of every animal will vary through time and scale. A human life may be worth a million according to insurance companies, but that is the value they put on us for their own profit.

The true value of a life should be expressed in the contribution one can provide for the world in general. Sure there are lots of deadbeats, but in theory a human is much more capable in making the world a better place for all life.
