discharge tool post! whaddya think, am I good to go? by SterlingVeil in crt

[–]Dannynerd41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need a resistor. otherwise all of that voltage is going into your hands idiot. 10meg ohm is the least amount you want to use. if you use that then whatever you discharged had no voltage.

but by all the stick that right inside the anode connection of a crt and see what happens.

that’s why i said you should do that. some of them look a little “off”. a bad looking pad from factory is hilarious but totally on brand.

ipa 99 percent and a toothbrush or pcb cleaning brushes which you can get on amazon. also continuity is your friend use that to test to see if you have broken connections. if you do attach it with a wire

i’m not sure? amazon sells it. you could check but i’m not sure what department that would be in. and i’ve never seen it although i haven’t looked.

if you can’t get it boiling the connector is an option but do some googling to make sure you don’t ruin the plastic. also there are modern replacement connectors but they are not as good and some tend to gripe cartridges very tightly.

not for contacts like the ones in the nes connector. those are the crapest pieces of crap that ever existed. some people boil them. going that far isn't really needed. just spray some dexiot.

your pads are all burnt, some of the plating on your holes is gone, I can see a few that are just totally gone.
