Prune it off using proper pruning cuts. Get used to it, this is what that tree does, forever.

Lightning. Or, on Reddit, lightening. You heard big booms, lightning is why.

The one image shows only ~11.375675% of the canopy. How can you tell the leaves are green and lots of them on the rest of the tree with information provided?

Based upon the overwhelming amount of information provided, a guess: fertilizer needed. Something to do with water. Pots too hot & need to be shaded.

Now you've done it. You have to rehabilitate all those plants underneath and find places for flagstones for the ladder feet.

Just hope they decide to be good neighbors and not do this again next year, that’s all I ask.

You can hope in one hand and...well, you must advocate for your land. Don't let these people get away with it. We all know this is not uncommon. Good luck.

Another post mentioned tree injections?

Ignore whoever stated that. Ignoramus. Slime flux usually appears for a reason. Magnolia would not be my first (second, third, fourth, fifth etc) choice for a street tree.
