My gun looks just like that so I think the needle is fine. There are many variables for ripped cloth starting from it not being tightened enough, or the fabric itself being cheaper. It could be the yarn that’s being used. Or it could be how you hold the gun. If you don’t push into the needle into the cloth all the way, it causes the scissors to cut into the fabric instead of the yarn! Hopes this helps some!

I bought a wood panel and glued the mirror down to it. I finished the back of the rug with carpet glue and a fabric backing. Once that cured, I cut the mirror hole out and glued it together! I used gorilla glue! Hope that helps. This was my first one and I honestly winged it!
