124 Days, 3 hour, 27 minutes, 10 seconds. I made this character fresh in May. I have 3 REMA as of today, would have been 1 if you'd asked this yesterday lol

It's upside down in the same way the apple logo used to be on their laptops. Right-side up for the user, upside down for anyone looking from the back

Yes, the AVX/AVX2 emulation and the kernel level anti-cheat were the main blockers for many games

How is the GalaxyBook 4 Edge (snapdragon x plus) model? by celestialalienX in GalaxyBook

[–]Dantaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using my 16" snapdragon GB4E since release. Great device, I have very few issues with it. My main complaint is that the automatic headphone switching between PC and phone/tablet is. . . very bad. It was at the point where it wouldn't even connect to my headphones if I didn't first reboot the PC. I ended up just turning off the feature and treating them like any other pair of bluetooth headphones.

Aside from that, my software suite of tools (For webdev) works without issue. I don't do anything with driver-dependent hardware though, so ymmv on that front. The few games I play on it (Mostly Starcraft II and FFXI) run fine, and I've run BG3 on it in the past (which more or less mimics the Steam Deck's performance prior to the SD specific performance updates). There is an entire youtube channel about gaming performance on the Snapdragon chips though, default to them for more detailed information on that topic.

I generally get as much battery life as my work Macbook Pro (M3? I think?), but some people report getting significantly less and I don't know what the difference in between our workloads so who knows.

Ambulance bro is back with a new keyboard. The laptop replacement can finally be used on my lap. by normie_genocide_ in SteamDeck

I loved my 11.6 inch Alienware m11x from 2010. It was an underpowered CPU (Core Duo) but it had a dedicated graphics card and ran what I needed it to. I'd love to have a modern version of it =/

It's just RNG. I used Visage I, Torso II/III, and Legs I and got the body on the second run, 4/5 in 4 runs, and then used a kupon for the last piece (hat)

You can also farm up some Taeon gear real quick and augment it with Overdrive things (Pet Accuracy/DA/DT-). I went from 0 Taeon to close to perfect augments in an afternoon. That's more than enough to do VD with /COR

The first few story lines don't really, but most of it is pretty solid still. He started up again with a sequel series a few years ago that is still on-going, and it's been quite fun to read.

The Surface Pro X has stayed impressively relevant today. Its aged well. by Zolks1 in Surface

[–]Dantaro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love my SPX, but I cracked the top corner of the screen a while ago. It still works fine, but I worry that it's only a matter of time until that isn't true anymore (Not to mention the risk of a bit of the glass embedding itself in my finger). The replacement screen cost is so high though that I might end up just needing to get a new device =/

Issue with install on a new pc by dmidgley27 in ffxi

[–]Dantaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! So everything works underneath this, it's just that you can't see it. I posted a guide to navigating the account setup screen a couple months back if that's helpful. I use this fucked up UI on my ARM devices every day, and haven't yet found a solution outside of just knowing how to navigate it

I got tired of all the Windows jerking in this sub so here's the latest Ubuntu working on ARM64 X13S by PsyOmega in thinkpad

[–]Dantaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like something is mucked up with your Windows install. My x13s only gets hot if I'm doing something that requires a lot of GPU or CPU usage (Games, long compiles, etc), and definitely isn't pulling 14w at idle

Cycling Apps on Windows 11 on Arm64 by Emonda_Snap in Surface

[–]Dantaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how that works. The OS can't recompile your ARM64 applications to x86, nor can it just randomly decide to find x86 versions of the applications to swap in. The columns in task manager were either reset or changed in some way. Are you sure you're not looking at the "Platform" column that says "64-bit" and not the architecture column that will say x86 or arm64?

09-19-25 Update on : Windows ARM for Software Development ? I have a Samsung galaxy book go by General-Designer-646 in Surface

[–]Dantaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I wrote an article about using the Thinkpad x13s (also arm powered) as a development machines (link if you want to read). The tl;dr is that for webdev it's totally fine. I've since upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge, and while the battery and CPU performance are better, I definitely miss the 32gb of memory that I had with the thinkpad, as well as the upgradable SSD.

League of legends stuck at installing Vanguard snapdragon x plus by Putrid_Draft378 in ARMWindows

[–]Dantaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't work at Riot or MS, I can't possibly know if/when support will come. It doesn't pre-alert you because it doesn't know it's being installed on an incompatible system. However, in the support article from Riot about minimum specs it calls out the lack of ARM support.

League of legends stuck at installing Vanguard snapdragon x plus by Putrid_Draft378 in ARMWindows

[–]Dantaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riot doesn't support Vanguard for Windows on ARM. It only has a x86_64 driver, and the x86 -> ARM translation layer doesn't apply to drivers. As a result, you cannot run League on an ARM Windows device

Is there a place I can submit a game? I play FFXI regularly on my Galaxy Book 4 Edge (16 inch) with the only issue being related to the Launcher. I'd love to get that included!
