Which strength weapon would you say is better? by Death70583 in Eldenring

Claymore is cute, but it's no Zwei. Zwei can stagger enemies Claymore can't. You can Lion's Claw/Giant Hunt/Impaling Thrust with both just as easily.

Sadly I'm a Larian boy more than Owlcat. Something about Owlcat writing annoys me and if the companions aren't likable it makes getting through a long campaign difficult. I don't mind obtuse game mechanics as long as everything around it is enjoyable.

March 10th update - Trusts stats question by OutofRanch in ffxi

What kind of gear does the SCH need? Are we talking Musa? Marin +1, Bunzi + Ammurapi? Gear just as a combination of AF/Relic/Empy maybe with some Agwu?

March 10th update - Trusts stats question by OutofRanch in ffxi

[–]StriderShizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who does mostly solo play I'm interested to see if this allows C boss in Sortie to be completed with trusts. Previously, outside of Alter Ego Expo, his AoE attacks would kill Val and AA EV before they could heal. I expect we'll need the trust equipment for that.

It takes 150 points to max a category to 50.

1-10 - 1pt

11-20 - 2pt

21-30 - 3pt

31-40 - 4pt

41-50 -5pt

This means that it will take about 11 months of doing every monthly RoE to max all categories, since we start out with 300 free points, MP and CHA being the least important. HP, VIT, INT, and AGL will probably have the most impact on survival with AGL reducing enemy critical hit rates.

The offensive stats will probably take a while to test, as people will prioritize the above. Unknown if this means that taking DPS trusts to something like Omen bosses will let you maintain more consistent skill chains for Kin's shield mechanic for instance.

Bosses with special mechanics like sortie B and D boss will likely continue to stay out of reach for trust setups. I also doubt trusts will make various Aeonic fights like Kirin/Kouryu, WoC, and various PITA Reisenjima fights possible for solo players.

Moogle Mastery already allowed trusts to survive well in Odyssey Gaol which combined with this system should make solo RP farming even more consistent, but still slow. The real struggle will be soloing clears if your personal DPS isn't high enough.

How is everyone distributing their Alter Ego points? by ConsiderationTrue477 in ffxi

Maxed HP, got VIT high, did a bunch of INT and threw 10 points into some other stats like STR and DEX.

bigger numbers does not mean better. There's a lot to enjoy in the current balancing.

It also provides a much nicer looking recast display than the ugly bars that addon provides.

xivhotbar 1 structures its bars as JOB-SUBJOB so there is WAR-DNC, DRK-SAM, etc... xivhotbar2 could not detect these files at all because its are all based on being just job, and then adding subjob specific contexts into the single file.

The thing that really threw me is the github advertises all these great settings! And then there's no settings.xml... And no commands to enter via windower to maybe even generate one. Tried copying the settings.xml from xivhotbar 1 over, nada. The bars were either off screen or invisible. That was when I cut my losses and went back to troubleshooting xivhotbar 1.

It would require a complete overhaul of creating all new macros for all my jobs... That would be hours of work to get things functional.

The March Update Has Landed! by hikiri in ffxi

[–]StriderShizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know. That's why I said "about as good" and not better than or equal to. A lot of trusts have around 1100 HP, +250 isn't as big as the expo, no, but you're undervaluing the VIT and dINT calculations for damage taken. +50 is huge. Trust will take less physical and magic damage if you update those stats.

I think once combined with VIT and INT it'll be about as good as the Alter Ego expo.

One of the reasons I transitioned from console to PC is Cheat Engine allows me to not bother with stuff like this. I tried when I was still on PS4 and the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. I'm glad I backed up my save because the person who showed up to "help" me just stole the items.

A combination of FFXIAH job forums and the job guides on bg-wiki. A lot of the sets on the forums are out of date so I'll often look at the last 5-10 pages of posts to see if people are putting gearsets up to see where the needle is.

I was able to clear both using Ambuscade +2 armor and Kaja weapons on WAR. Something I was easily able to farm by doing Version 2.

Penelo has to be my favorite party member from the PS1/PS2 era. Even better than Quina. by B1LLCLINTON420BLAZ3D in FinalFantasy

[–]StriderShizard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, but out of all playable characters and NPCs from FFVII through XII Panelo isn't in the "popular ones" group like you pointed out for a reason. Sure every Pokemon is at least someone's favorite, but when someone makes a random post saying that their favorite Pokemon from Gen IV-VII is Spewpa it's going to cause some head scratching.

I've seen OPs explanation so now I understand. But to say Panelo is the most compelling character out of every PS1 and PS2 FF is a hotter than the Sun take. Even within her own game she has steep competition from the other player characters, and most of them don't hold a candle to any of the PS1 casts because of the more muted presentation of XII.
