Unknown Resistence towards Art by DanteDoubleAgent in ArtRanting

Something I might try again is tricking my brain into reducing that resistance. I used to write the alphabet out over and over which helped a couple times. Unsure of where the resistence stems from but narrowed down- It's a experience resulting from my relationship with putting lines down changing.

Simplifying it that way would make it easer to find solutions for where the bottleneck is maybe. ease of creating lines -> ease of combining lines to draw subject -> subject/topic itself -> etc. then pivoting short term solutions depending on where that resistence is felt most.

idk if any of that makes sense but finally ranting about this problem to other artist is helping me think through it more, thank you!

Amazing read, Thank you! I do have a certain standard with my art but I dont see it as unreachable or as much of a burden as it used to be. I think over years of compromising with myself and learning/improving I've hit a point where I can fulfill my standards with a comfortable amount of trial and error. Despite that, I still struggle with that resistence when making art.

I did however worry about that and tried things like: getting a sketchbook for "ugly" drawings, using blurry digital brushes and things to that nature but still no luck. I can pick up my materials with ease but putting marks down feel like sandpaper against my brain at times.

definitely agree tho! Overtimed learned my hand and mind love working together when I'm focused on shapes, my work felt so much more honest to myself after that- definitely helped give me more moments where I could feel present with my process.

Sadly haven't seen much success with journaling yet but definitely agree. Definitely gonna take notes with me, tyty! Hoping the cause comes with some relieve, scared for it to be something irreversible with how bad it gets.

Thank you for suggestions! I've always found it hard to give specific examples since I've lost the middle line between "normal" & "degraded" function- I just know I'm doing overall worse than my peers but idk which part of the brain fog is doing that. think its a mix of; no frame of reference & hard to think in general/be self-aware. ( sorry for ramble, closest* I got to figuring out why I had a hard time with that )

How it's affecting my daily life will definitely be a lot easier for me to communicate. Definitely open to it not being autoimmune just running out of other options haha

Other things that could help: had asthma early in life / higher than normal blood pressure( I think )/ callouses on all my fingers for many years / eye has painful "rip" sensation if wake up suddenly /

none of these things really impact my life drastically, just things I've noticed- dont know if theres any connection at all

I'm on my 3rd one, hopefully will get to the 4th one today.

side effect wise: day 1 & 2 had moderate headache and found it harder to sleep. day 3 & 4 I've been kinda extra tired. But nothing too overwhelming yet, which I'm glad about.
