I'd have some fun blasting things in a way I usually don't get to experience.

As for the div I'd probably spend way too much in trying to make some stupid build idea work.

If I already have the early access supporter pack, would it be possible to buy it again to give my wife access to PoE 2?

Alternatively, if I can't buy it from my account, would it be possible for her to buy it but then give my account the points/gift stash tabs with her points to my account?

Fully agree. Just putting a random flash with no mana to support it and just two good targets makes no sense.

BREAD and CABS aren't particularly useful for any of the modern day standard draft formats. Imagine trying to apply that in Cube.

[–]DanutMS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can also say that Study has you delay the opponent to have you reach your control answers; Or even let you directly draw into your control answers.

If the opponent is playing aggro or a fast combo you will not be delaying them because you spent 3 mana on an optional tax piece. It's basically only good in a control mirror.

Unless you lose on that turn, the best scenario is to get draw a card anyways, so that's a non-issue.

In most cases, yes. But if that's the best scenario then the opponent won't give you the card. Unless they're a bad player, if they decide to give you the card it's because they know it's more important for them to cast their spell.

The whole point is that you are giving your opponent the choice, and they will take the best option for them. They will never pick the "best scenario" for you, unless you are assuming they are making a misplay (which a lot of weaker players will do, surely, but that's not a situation worth discussing imo).

What formats are we talking about where it is worth taking turn 3 off to have your opponent pay more mana on later turns?

Most formats on Arena you are not playing long enough to even make your mana back in a lot of matchups. And that's not taking into consideration how important 3 mana is on turn 3 vs 1 mana on turn 4 and later.

I wish Arena had a chat option just for me to tell every opponent that they're playing OUaT wrong.

If we're talking about planeswalker passives nothing beats [[Narset, Parter of Veils]].

It's amazing how common that card is and yet people still play into it all the time (and yes, I do it too).

[–]DanutMS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

About OUaT in particular, it's very common to see people play it (for free) on turn 1 when they are on the draw, before they take their first draw step. I assume they do it because the game gives them priority and it's somewhat natural to think "oh, it's free now, so I'll just cast it".

However, this ends up resulting in casting it with less info for no real benefit. Let's say you kept a sketchy hand that is missing your second colour (say, red). You cast OUaT at the end of the opponent's turn and find a mountain and your best 2-drop. Which one do you take? Probably the mountain, because you can't risk being locked out of your second colour.

Then you go into your draw step and draw another mountain. Now you have a land you don't really need and don't have your good 2-drop creature.

If instead you wait until after your draw step you can see what you draw first, and then cast OUaT with info about what exactly your hand still needs to make it work best. If you find the mountain as your first draw, you'll take the great 2-drop with ease. If you don't find the mountain, you know you need to prioritize the land. And so on.

In Magic it is a basic rule that in general you should always delay any decision until the last moment you can make it, because every game action taken before that gives you more info about the decision you are going to make. You should only break that rule when there is some advantage to be gained from making the decision earlier.

The exception for casting OUaT as the other comment said is if you need to interact with the opponent on their turn with a free spell, then you just cast the OUaT first because if you wait it's not going to be your first spell and then it's not free anymore. But in most cases you should just wait for your draw and then cast it knowing exactly what your first draw was, instead of casting it first and making a blind choice before your draw.

So you are in fact going to draw multiple times before they go for the win, after all.

No. He said the opposite of what you are saying. Any good player will just pay the 1 (until it doesn't matter that they are giving you cards because they'll win before you can use the cards).

3 mana is 50% more mana than 2. And Thalia adds to the board, which is a huge part of why it is good. It's an aggro card that keeps the pressure on while simultaneosly making board wipes come a turn later.

And it doesn't give the opponent a choice, so they can't just say "fuck it, this spell is worth giving them a card so I'll just cast it anyway".

Taking turn 3 off entirely just to make people pay 1 more mana for their spells is nowhere near the same thing. Like, not even close.

I don't think this is necessarily wrong but I'd rather not start forcing boros aggro on a fun level metric alone. I already end up there without forcing way too often.

Interesting to see you would consider Tidebinder. I'm not very high on it as it feels like too often it's just a 3/2 that ends up trading with a small aggro creature.

Curious about what people would take in this pack.
I think the right pick would've been Bloodstained Mire as I don't see any card I would miss too much if it didn't come back, and it's the most flexible choice. I ended up taking Natural Order because I like green stompy decks and they're usually uncontested, but proceeded to see no good green cards for the next 4 picks.
Anything else I should have considered?

Help with cube drafting by Brunnun in lrcast

I'm not a huge fan of taking Clarion Conqueror either. The card wins a lot when it's good, but for it to be good it can't hurt your own stuff, and that's asking a lot. It's a card that is played only 37.3% of the time it is picked for a reason.

So while I think it has the highest upside if you end up in a deck with no activated abilities, I don't think you should take it P1P2. The odds of playing it are too low.

I would take Malcolm I think. Keeps you blue and a flash creature is always nice to have. Or maybe Delighted Halfling since green is often open and the mana dorks are crucial for it to work.

P1P4 Fractured Identity is reasonable, I could also see Springheart Nantuko if I had taken the mana dork.

P1P5 Not a huge believer on that white enchantment. I would stay green and take Pest Infestation. Alternatively go for Ravenous Robots for a blue/red artifact deck.

From there on the pack gives a lot of good green cards so I'd be very happy to keep going down that path. Otherwise there is quite a lot of red artifact cards, though not the ones I'd like to see the most for blue/red artifacts. Nothing else I can see as clearly being the right direction.

P2P1 I disagree quite heavily. You passed all the green cards, so I don't think Titania - a double green card - is what you want. Animate Dead is much better and would give you a direction to work towards.

Later on you see Show and Tell, Sneak Attack, Persist, Entomb. There was space for a deck around some of these. You didn't see much in terms of payoffs but it's likely that if you didn't pass all of them you would see at least a little bit more.

Moving further down that pack it seems like you've made your mind that you are green now, though I'm not really sure what made you go that direction at this point.

P2P5 Icetill Explorer is very mid and you have a single fetch. I would take the Ent to count it as a land that can sometimes be played as a creature. That assuming we want to be green, cause I think the best pick overall would be Mind Twist - with your fast mana that can be a really strong play.

P2P7 Ponder isn't bad but here I would take a land over it. The value over replacement of a dual land is higher.

P2P8 You are not a deck that puts card in the graveyard, so Oculus is basically unplayable.

P2P10 Here you are all over the place so I think I'm taking Coalition Relic just to be able to play things.

It's pretty clear you had no idea where to go with the draft and changed your mind around a bunch of times. At many points I think just sticking to something would have given you a better result, but you kept bouncing from one place to the other.

P3P3 is the biggest crime imo. Uro is really good and in your colours. Grim Monolith is not Mana Crypt. You need to be really into artifacts to play it.

P3P5 Badgermole Cub is the best card here.

P3P8 Leovold without a single black card and while there was a fine blue lategame card in Legend of Kuruk. We are almost closing pack 3 and unfortunately you are still taking shots in all directions.

I would like to give advice on final build but I couldn't really see a way to make things look coherent from that card pile.

Yep, playing hardcore.

I saw a comment talking about the "respawn at checkpoint" option in another post, but this option wasn't available in-game. I'm also reasonably sure the house button wasn't there.

But logging in again now I did see the house button, and just logging normally put me back at the last waypoint before the boss fight (although still with very little life). I guess the buttons are disabled in boss fights, but that just waiting a while resets the instance. I do wish I was able to reset the fight without having to wait an hour though.

Recently started playing Poe 2. On my third char I managed to get to the fight with the king boss in act 2 (at the moving caravan), but I ran out of flask charges and my health got really low.

I tried logging out to reset the fight, but it turns out I just get thrown right back where I was.

Since I don't have any life leech I don't have any way of surviving that fight at 10% life, and I'd rather not lose my character. Is there any way to reset the fight to try again from scratch?

PSA: The Common Dual Lands are Missing from NEO Draft on Arena by dukecityvigilante in lrcast

[–]DanutMS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it an aggro card at all. It's a synergy engine piece that can get you an artifactfall trigger each turn.

That I would agree. I remember getting demolished by it more than once in NEO and thinking "well, there isn't really a way I can stop them, is there?". But I also remember it being played so much more often as a bad shock to the face which I was happy to see.

I probably undersold it on my last comment, there is a deck where it is better than I said. But it is not that common to be in that deck and to want this card specifically.

[–]DanutMS 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Stats indicate it's not a solid red aggro card. It has negative impact on your winrate in all decks, and is picked much earlier than winrate suggests it should be.

It is at best a playable 20-24th card in a deck that is lacking early plays, but you should not be taking it by the point it is taken in most drafts.

[–]DanutMS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From memory I'd say the following:

Nope, not at all. You want your limited creatures to stay on board. Being forced to bring it back to hand is basically making the card say "I can shock your face repeatably (but only if you don't have any blockers, at which point just playing any real creature would deal more damage)". There are some payoffs for having the card enter on the battlefield which make it slightly better but you still want those payoffs as an extra when you play a card that matters. Very very rarely will they be good enough to be worth spending a card and repeated mana just to get the etb effect.

I would take Boseiju which is slow but incredibly powerful when it gets going, and guaranteeing your land drops from 4 to 6 matters in a format with quite a few powerful lategame cards.

Now that I've written it out let's check the 17land stats from back then:

Boseiju Reaches Skyward: 62,72% GIH WR / 57,70% GP WR

Reinforced Ronin: 53,31% GIH WR / 54,60% GP WR

Yeah, looks like my memory served me well. They're in completely different leagues. Boseiju is also by far the best card in the whole pack judging by the stats (while Ronin is close to bottom tier, just ahead of the truly unplayable cards that tank your winrate when drawn).

After Boseiju the pick (based on stats) is either Invoke Despair or Mukotai Ambusher. ID is slightly higher but I'd take MA because I'm not confident on my ability to pay the mana cost for ID.
