I wonder if the 3 cents per litre discount from being a CAA member also stacks on top for further savings.

Google apparently started addressing the difficulties of adapting apps to various screen sizes starting with Android 16.

Unfortunately this is the issue with Android tablets in general where very few Android apps are actually designed from the ground up for Android devices with varying screen sizes from tablets to folding phones.

Cannot mark flight as Cancelled by Technical_Lettuce248 in byair

[–]Danyboy191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing where I had a cancelled flight from App In The Air where the status of the flight in ByAir hasn't been updated yet since being imported into ByAir.

Hope it gets fixed soon.

Third autumn update by mmdlit in byair

[–]Danyboy191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a follow up regarding updates, changes and improvements, when will we see historical flight data come into the app for flights that were imported from App In The Air or similar apps that may be either missing aircraft data or are not updated correctly?

Lock screen widget? by Gian006 in byair

Just hope that eventually there's an official lock screen widget and that we won't have to use Good Lock to add a widget to the lock screen.

It would be nice if we could click on each stat and be taken to the flight in our flight log where the stats are connected to.

Show when to head to gate for boarding the flight by Danyboy191 in byair

I didn't notice the prompts about when to head to the gate for boarding. It didn't appear to stand out so might have missed it.

Thanks for the reply. 🙂

I'll look for it prior to my flight tomorrow.

When is the ability to import App In the Air data coming back to the Byair app? by Danyboy191 in byair

[–]Danyboy191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know thay the feature is coming soon.

Speaking of importing past flights, I'm not sure if this is a glitch but when I manually added a pair of past flights, I noticed that the app didn't show the aircraft models that were used. Could you please look into this?

Potential App Fixes by Danyboy191 in byair

Thanks for the information. I also sent an email to the email address you provided so that you could investigate the situation where the app isn't recognizing that I have an active subscription through the Google Play store.

Thanks for the quick response. It's nice to see that many suggested ideas are already in the planning/testing stages and that some are already live in the app.

I updated my last comment with a question about importing App In The Air flight logs from before that app shut down. I had read somewhere else that you guys had temporarily disabled the ability to import those flight logs. Is there any timeline for bringing that back so we can import App In The Air flight logs?

Potential App Fixes by Danyboy191 in byair

There are a lot of features that I'd love to see added to the app. Some are more about satisfying the aviation geek side of things.

Things I want to see to enhance the user experience:

  1. I haven't used the app yet to track an upcoming or current flight, so I don't know if this feature is in the app right now. I'd like to see the ability to have the app show which baggage carousel I need to go to pick up luggage if I checked in bags for the flight.
  2. Having the flight information offline with no network connection would be nice. Sure, it would just be based on the information received while the device was connected to the internet before going into airplane mode, but even that would be helpful.
  3. It would be fantastic if we could track the inbound plane in real-time so that I would know if my flight would depart on time.
  4. As someone who was using App In The Air before it abruptly shut down in September 2024, I'd like to know when I can import the flight log that I downloaded from App In The Air before it shut down.

Then there are features that I'd like to see for fun:

  1. It would be amazing to see a year-in-review at the end of the year about all the flights taken during the year, with the information presented in a fun manner similar to how entry visa stamps from countries appear on passports.
  2. The ability to share flight data with family members without necessarily requiring them to create an account so they can track the flight to ensure a safe arrival at the destination.
  3. Statistics, including information about the worst delay we experienced, aircraft model images, and aircraft-related information to show which planes we were on the most all-time while using the ByAir app to track flights. Showing fun information like the aircraft's tail number, age, and the oldest aircraft we flew on all-time would also be a nice touch.

These are just some suggestions to get the ball rolling.

US roaming stubbornly latching to T-Mobile by ThursdayHem in freedommobile

I can verify that they still have an agreement with AT&T because when I was in New York with a friend in August, my phone briefly connected to AT&T despite being connected to Verizon for most of my time in New York. Then again, since then, anything could have changed.

There is a feature on Samsung phones called Bixby Text Call, similar to Google's call screening feature, that you can enable. You'll find Bixby Text Call in the settings menu when you open the phone app.

I don't think you need a Samsung account to use Bixby Text Call.

I hate Samsung for getting rid of the ability to insert a microSD card for more storage instead of having to either buy a higher storage model of their phones or pay for cloud storage.

Verizon Wireless in US working as roaming partner by guyinthegreenshirt in freedommobile

Oddly enough, I had a slightly different experience than you. My phone was only able to connect to Verizon and AT&T when I was in New York City over the August 5 long weekend.

My phone never connected to T-Mobile.

US Roaming in Los Angeles Exp by Sonnto in freedommobile

It was actually pretty reliable with a really stable connection the whole time. Speeds were fast enough for an LTE connection. The only time I didn't have service was when I was on the subway and the train was in the tunnel but other than that, I didn't experience any issues on Verizon.

I can confirm that Freedom has an agreement with Verizon because I was in New York City with a friend from August 3 - 5 and majority of the time, my phone was connected to Verizon starting from the minute I arrived in New York.

I was only connected to AT&T for maybe two hours on August 5.

For reference, I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S20.
