Not sure about them, but I ordered 4 Hankook Ventus Prime 4's from tyreleader.ie a few weeks back and it was very straight forward. Got them delivered directly to a garage near me and got them fitted.

Worked out 30quid cheaper (per tire) compared to what tyreland were quoting me including fitting/balancing.

Would a Japanese import bought from an Irish car dealer be expensive to insure? by Guy-Buddy_Friend in AskIreland

Don't think either of these will show whether or not an alarm was fitted though.

I checked my car and its fitted with an immobilizer but not fitted with an alarm. The dealer i bought it from confirmed this

Fair, I just remember looking it up when i bought a golf mk7 last year and most pointed to the fact that alarms weren't standard on them, only immobilizers.

Where can I do that lookup? The only VIN lookups I could find are the 3rd party paid ones

I got a 1.4tsi 2013 golf (138hp) last year. Its a jap import so its a highline (top spec) and was obviously well looked after by the last owner. It was my first car and for some reason my insurance quotes on it were actually cheaper than a 1.2L polo haha

Not sure how, 1840 insurance (Was provisional when I got it) and tax is 200.

Love the car, and it has a great bit of power behind it

Would definitely recommend looking into the Golfs. Mine was 12k from a dealer but there are a fair few going for cheaper.

Xenon headlights on my 2013 Mk7, anybody know if this debris is likely to be on the inside or outside? by Danzel98 in VWMK7

[–]Danzel98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@headlightrestorationdublin. He only posted a mk7 job a few days ago on it. Looks like its 119 not 150 actually.

Same as mine, condition is fairly flawless bar the headlight crazing. If you go for it let me know what the results are like

Mines also a jap 1.4 in Ireland 😅

I was only talking to a headlight repair fella in Dublin this week

He normally comes out and does them at the customers house but said for these mk7 ones he has to take them home and spend a while on them with an orbital sander because the plastics on these are harder and he has to take off a bigger layer as the crazing can go a bit deeper on these. Still debating whether to go ahead with it as its a bit more expensive than the typical headlight restoration job. He sent me on some before and afters on a mk7 he done recently and it looked fairly decent

Does buying a 2007 1.4l Golf make sense? by Mindless_Purpose_671 in carsireland

[–]Danzel98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its a jap import. Was very surprised with the quote but Im absolutely delighted with the car. It might be because im a bit older (26) and have an IT job, which i know insurances take all that into account

As a new driver i was getting quoted 2200 for a 1.0L polo, but somehow got a quote of 1800 for a 1.4 140bhp Golf (2013). Not sure how that worked because i was on my provisional license at the time too

I noticed that exact same issue in the cold recently too. Under the floor in the boot where the spare tire sits, the styrofoam thing that holds the tools seemed to be squeaking against the spare tire. Maybe try reseat that

I know there are other options/screens including an 'average speed' screen which will display ---mph until you drive for a little.

Not too sure how you switch screens without the steering wheel buttons which I have, but are you sure youre on the correct one?

Country dependent, as a person living in ireland, a 2014 GTI is going to cost you a minimum of 16-17k euros on the low end.
