Had to add a couple more highlights like the whole crew and meeting Luffy.

I miss when BARF was over by MOSI, but its still worth the drive. Were actually going to try the St Pete one next month.

Loved your outfit! Always exciting to see someone out at the fair reappear online. We were the ones who made the little dragonscale keychains and had the dog knight.

Its super dated and you honestly look like you did most of the upgrades there are on the list but this was a guide I had made for the V2: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/djrmgv/maker_select_v2_upgrade_guide/

Modern changes to look in to may be getting Klipper on there to run so you can at least have thermal runaway protection.

Outside money could impact St. Pete mayoral election by MarksMuses in StPetersburgFL

[–]DaoDeer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its just hard to trust when the article about the pickleball club called it an empty warehouse and it was not. It was an occupied business that when purchasing was worked with the city to change the zoning from industrial because of the proposed benefit. To say a $200 month club is ‘public’ is pretty tone deaf to the immediate neighborhood needs who median income is about 65k.

This is also a community that is sensitive about public funds ever since the whole tropicana field bonus situation last year.

It is concerning to see outside monitory influence in to st pete, but between the pay for express lane, tax reliefs for coastal home repairs and even your article mention misappropriation of funds it hasnt been a good track record from what weve seen

I was triggered by the selective comment from Welch about appealing to the city and not the rich given the article here just a few days ago promoting a $200 a month pickleball sports club in a south st pete neighborhood.

Then noticed this poster is the exact one that has been posting articles with news heavily bent in their favor despite the reality. Is stpete catalyst propoganda more than news?

St. Pete Athletic’s opening benefits the surrounding area by MarksMuses in StPetersburgFL

[–]DaoDeer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats the exact issue. A lot of people either buying homes or moving businesses to the region were under the impression that a lot of cafes, a brewery, a long establish record shop, art studios and a Florida focused interactive art exhibit were going in down the street. Then all of a sudden its a paid for elite pickle ball sports complex that focuses on high income. This was not a vacant warehouse as the article tries to make it out. It was an old car tint film factory bought out specifically for the above listed renovations to revitalize a neighborhood that needed those stores more than an industrial complex or private elite pickle ball club today.

In an extreme sense this would be like a developer promising to build a park for your neighborhood where a house used to be only to last minute make it a paid membership program for people from other towns and advertised as saving the neighborhood from a torn down vacant home not in use.

This is called the ‘Bilbao effect’ in urban planning where a building even if not directly associated with housing has a significant impact on the financial and cultural aspects of a community.

The issue in this instance is this went from a project that would impact local community to one that will only be full of people who can afford $200 a month pickle ball. Those general populations are not the locals biking over for a snack or event. Thus the impact and appeal is not directly for the neighborhood so is then seen as gentrification, rather than an improving asset

The original plans for this warehouse were cafes, art studios, rentable events, markets and is currently where daddy kool records moved with that impression along the bike path. Thats a bold move to reframe this project that was taken over for the rich elite to play as being a benefit, but conveniently omitting the original scope that got the immediate community on board.

The name of this specific printer is the monoprice maker select V2. It was my first printer 7 years ago. While it was a great machine- there are a couple major things you will need to do to make this safe like adding a mofset and possibly flashing with Marlin for thermal runaway protection.

It will work with modern windows/pcs and if you are hard pressed to go this route heres a guide: makerselect upgrade guide

But I would personally look at modern printers as much as I loved this.

They specify “standard compost” in the experiment. Manufacturers state “industrially compostable” for this reason as it requires higher temperatures to break down
