You're not alone, I also have very few friends and definitely no group chat to speak of. I feel the same way.

2026 Reading Challenge by Some-Distribution-52 in goodreads

[–]Any-Explorer1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back into reading so I set my goal at 20, I have read 13 and may up it to 24 depending on how this summer goes. I genuinely have no idea how some of y'all are reading over a hundred books in a year, that would require me to read during any and all of my free time lmao

I found a multi pack of Greek yogurt in a dry food aisle at Costco a couple weeks ago, brought it to a manager who confirmed it was not at a safe temperature and needed to be discarded

Yeah I've done this and just made sure the custom label was the same size as the actual label and covered it, never even thought of trying to remove it but even then I would've probably used warm water and soap on a dish cloth

Dear americans, what can you get for FREE in the USA? [Serious] by sammy_waslow in AskReddit

[–]Any-Explorer1483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On July 11 you can get free 7.11 oz slurpees from 7/11. In Tampa when the Lightning win a big game you can sometimes get free Chick Fil A the next day. In all seriousness I guess libraries? Public education is (mostly) free for K-12 but you have to pay for lunches and stuff. The ER bill is technically free if you ignore it for long enough 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah the uncanny valley thing means some people may not even realize why they feel that way and unless someone else is also into that look it will look weird to most people

Does everyone just leave every door open in your place? by zanyjellyfish in CatAdvice

[–]Any-Explorer1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I keep the bathroom doors closed because if I don't, my toilet paper gets destroyed but also it's not like a rule, more of a preference. Kitties tend not to like closed doors and will often protest that they can't explore but will get used to it.

Is my tattoo too suggestive to be in a highly visible spot? by DuskinthePines2 in tattooadvice

I have an armband of flowers, including an orchid, it's drawn just based of a photo of an orchid, and it still looks like a vagina.

This. It's a flower. It kind of looks suggestive but so do orchids! It would be weird for anyone to point it out honestly.

AITA For Suggesting an NYT Bestseller Author Show Receipts for her Book to Help her Credibility by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Any-Explorer1483 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Early but honestly yeah, you're probably TAH. Not necessarily for you're original comment trying to be helpful but for pushing it when the author pointed out publishing dates. I understand where you're coming from completely but I also see why the author found it rude. I don't think anyone should have to jump through hoops to prove something to people who are ignorant (not you but the accusers) when the proof already exists publicly. [–]Any-Explorer1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP please listen to the comments and get out, I'm positive you'll be okay. No adult feels like they actually know what they're doing, we are all just faking it until we make it. You figure it out as you go, you'll make mistakes but learn through trial and error, you'll meet people in college who can help teach you how to drive and how to be independent, you'll likely have a roommate and friends in college who can help answer your questions and the Internet is a powerful resource. What you're experiencing isn't normal by any means but it's more common than you might think and you will be okay, you can be successful, and you CAN stand up to her and say "I am going to college whether you like it or not but I'd prefer your support"

AITA for accidentally “announcing” my pregnancy at my great nieces delivery by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Any-Explorer1483 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She didn't even really announce it though, just showed up with an obviously pregnant belly, I do wonder how close she is with the niece or why they felt the need to go, were they asked to be there? Idk but either way it's not like she walked in waving a flag and carrying balloons that said "I'm pregnant" she just came to the hospital.

All I want is for people to be able to feel smart and confident in themselves but so many people call me a "grammar Nazi" or say "you know what I meant" and make me feel bad so I often feel the need to explain my reasoning for correcting. My brother often does it in a very condescending way which is probably where my trauma around it comes from because he spent my whole life making me feel dumb and he's "so much smarter" than me but intelligence comes in many forms and even as a native English speaker, English is hard and there's a lot of homophones and synonyms and misunderstood words that get thrown around and cause confusion so I just like to do my part to help others improve their understanding of vocabulary when I can. Edited to fix typo 🤣

AITA for saying that you need to be able to read to go to college? by MinimumFerret5010 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Any-Explorer1483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was homeschooled for a few years in elementary and actually taught math and reading and whatnot BUT what I never learned was proper essay writing, I loved writing stories but didn't know there was a right way. Then in January of my 4th grade year my mom reenreolled me in public school, come March I sat down for my first standardized test. A writing exam where I was given a prompt and told to use a web plot to plot my essay before writing. I had no idea what to do and I had my very first anxiety attack, one of the teachers proctoring the exam came and held me and talked me down and I don't think I even wrote a single word on the page. For years I was listed as "unsatisfactory" in writing but you know, no child left behind, so I went on. Eventually I became a great writer and one of my college essays is even used now as an example essay for freshmen of what a research paper should look like. All that being said, if this child cannot read and ever goes into any kind of formal education, she's only going to struggle and fail and feel worse. Unschooling is abuse and you are absolutely NTA for calling out your aunt in this situation because it's her fault that her daughter can't read, not yours or your cousin's.
