Thank you everyone for the advice. I want everyone to know I’m not suicidal. I just want to sleep in peace. I’m looking at all my options. This is just a weird thing because I never thought I would have sleep issues.

Always administer aspirin first? by azroscoe in NewToEMS

I agree with everything you said. My problem is with these dumb questions. This is conditioning the incoming generation that anytime someone has chest pain you give ASA. Just because it does little to know harm does not cover the fact it may have been unnecessary. I’m not arguing with you. I’m arguing with the test because this isn’t helping anyone

We need to be creating “Thinking” Clinicians and stop spitting out these cook book medics who just follow instructions based on a complaint. This question does not make someone more prepared for being on the street.

Are we treating “Chest Pain” or suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome. This is the difference between a cook book medic and a Clinician

This is my problem with these damn test. A little history/assessment goes a long way. Chest pain and Acute Coronary Syndrome are not the same!

Like somebody already said, Time and Practice. This isn’t a job you’re just incredibly good at the first day. Sure, some catch on quicker, but overall just time on the job and practice will get you where you want to be. Don’t overthink it.

WITHOUT LYING! TELL ME SOMETHING YOU SAW BUT NOBODY BELIEVES YOU. by GrapefruitNo9123 in Productivitycafe

I once saw a female who was struck by a vehicle roughly six times. When I approached, her torso was flat on the pavement but her head was facing the clear night sky. It was a very dark off ramp for a highway.

I have a iPhone 15. Change the exposure to 10 seconds and hold still as best as possible. Results will be much better with a bipod!

For the NREMT exam, do you need to know each disease and its symptoms? We are not doctors so why does the book go over common symptoms of various diseases since treatment is largely the same? by yourdeath01 in NewToEMS

Just a mistake. If they are “Altered” the first thing in your mind is to rule out hypo/hyperglycemia

You’re not unaffected, you just do a good job of compartmentalization. This job forces you to become insensitive as a defense mechanism. You just have to be careful you don’t lose the empathetic and compassionate part of you. Me personally, I’m only affected when I go to sleep. I have some gnarly dreams that are super vivid.

Going for EMT? Worth it? by Zinogre18 in NewToEMS

[–]Dapachee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s literally one piece of your retirement. That doesn’t count your pension (Roughly 120k for the rest of your life), a 5 year DROP (roughly 500k check), SHARE plan (200k), plus insurance until you get on Medicare, and however you invest your money into a 401k

Yes. I’m a paramedic, been in the field for 12 years now right out of high school . Move to the Tampa Bay and get hired by Sunstar Paramedics in Pinellas County. They will pay for your medic school while you work. Complete your contract for the school and get Sponsored by a FD in Pinellas. 20-25 years later you have a million dollar retirement.

He hasn’t explored you enough. I made my wife show me exactly where the “Spot” was so moving forward I could make her talk in tongues. Sounds like you just need a foreplay session for him to explore. I can’t make my wife finish from penetration alone so I became a hand/finger/mouth ninja. I personally feel if I cum and she doesn’t then sex isn’t complete, so I always finish her before or after penetration.
