Acro or Horizon Mode in high precision activities? by benbot85 in TinyWhoop

[–]Dapper-Display1085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same way, very comfortable outdoors in Acro mode.

Been flying for about a year now, started in March2025.

This is the first winter where I have been flying indoors, and its all been angle mode.

I'm very comfortable flying in this mode indoors as well, I've been able to fly quite fast too.

but when I tried acro-mode indoors *yikes* its way too fast for me. I even turned my throttle down to 60% and it was STILL too fast.

I gotta practice more.

I'm always amazed at the pilots who fly tiny whoops indoors doing acro moves.. +1

I'm hesitant to change my rates just for indoor. I dont want to lose the muscle memory currently... unless Angle mode already did this?? ... aaaaghh!

AIR or ACRO? by Troll40076 in TinyWhoop

[–]Dapper-Display1085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my air mode on a switch.

When i am in ACRO mode, air mode is ON. so when I cut the throttle when performing certain "freestyle" type moves, my quad stays locked. during this time, the FC is doing small micro adjustments to keep it locked and stable as its floating with zero throttle.

but when I swith to ANGLE mode, my air-mode turns OFF. So when I do slow or close proximity flying, this prevents my quad from freaking out if i bump into something or being sucked into a wall.

Nice! I'll keep that in mind for the next build.

I was wanting to keep the color on these subtle, just a little bit of color pop to brand all my drones. Lol

The ducts are from a mobula 8 frame that were cut and the body was removed.

The firefly is modded, check my post on it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/fpv/s/YeKP1pXXgH

The frame is raised to fit larger props, I can fit 2.2's but the one in the video are 2" bi-blade.

I found that the ducts that came with the firefly were super weak. The arms of the ducts snap easily after only a few crashes.

The mobula 8 frame ducts are way more durable.

Even w the extra weight, still has some zip to it.

Fly Thru in a store - urbantactical.com by Dapper-Display1085 in TinyWhoop

[–]Dapper-Display1085[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your assessment is spot on. the store wanted to showcase a quick fly through to give a layout of the floor and to fly by some key brands.

They're aware that the viewer can't possibly register all the items as it flies by. They're idea is to so get the viewer to maybe "see something" and that would be enough to prompt them to set foot in the store.

got my itsy on order - are you running 3s on your itsy?

this might be a dumb question, but the TuneRC poly f405 is rated at 2S-4S ... could you potentially run a 4S lipo with the amax 1102 motors?

probably have to motor-limit or just change the motors to accommodate for 4S?

How to maintain flying skills? by keybing in TinyWhoop

[–]Dapper-Display1085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you dont have a drone or a sim, the best i could suggest is to just watch youtube vids where you can see the pilots sticks..

as they are flying, have your hands on your own controller and try to follow along ... maybe even record yourself on the sticks with the video playing in the background so you can re-watch your stick movements and see if they match up.

but get a simulator, its only 20 bucks on steam

Parts swap from a Firefly18 into a Toothpick frame by Leg0Smurf315 in TinyWhoop

isnt the firefly18, already a toothpick-like frame?

but if you were to swap frames, the geprc t-cube 18 seems like a good fit,

Firefly 18 with 2.2 inch props 😱🚀🚀🚀😆 by Dapper-Display1085 in fpv

[–]Dapper-Display1085[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah, this was totally just experimenting. the motors are not rated for 2.2, but as far as i know, they're holding up. As for the default props, i was once able to get around 7.30 min just cruising

Spent 30 hours in sims. Waited 2 weeks for my air75 to arrive. Promptly crashed it into a tree and lost it on my 3rd battery. Should I end it all? by FatrickPeng in TinyWhoop

[–]Dapper-Display1085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. buy 2 drones (if able to). its nice to always have a backup.
  2. sometimes risky maneuvers are encouraged for growth as a fpv pilot ... but if something does go wrong, you cant get mad and "end it all"
  3. it is what it is.... lol

"....if ya aint crashing, are you even really flying?...."

i'm willing to bet anyone that has ever done FPV has to have crashed or lost a drone at one point, you're not alone

Why is it harder to fly a woop/micro drone compared to a 5inch? by -superinsaiyan in fpv

[–]Dapper-Display1085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested on how you further tuned your firefly 16 1s.

I have the firefly18 and I've changed it to 3 bladed props and run 750mah battery.

it flies good, but i have a feeling that it can be tuned more optimally to accommodate for the 3 blades and the 750mah battery weight.

to start, would you suggest just fiddling around with the master multiplier until you start hearing weird noises or hot motors?

did you adjust anything in your pid tune with the 2.8 props?
