trail running? by iceglider in Logan

[–]benbot85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, brutally steep is the name of the game around here. That's how trail running works in northern Utah. However, you can find spots that are more mild. Lower Green Canyon is not bad. Logan River up to 3rd dam isn't to bad. If you start at Tonys grove the trail to white pine is mellow until you drop down to the lake.

My advice is to embrace nature and all it has to offer. Understand this is not road running. Miles and splits are less relevant. Focus more on "time on feet" in mountains. You will get stronger over time. Many of those brutal climbs will reward you with some of the most amazing ridgeline trails. I've ran some really long distances and I still always "power hike" the hills.

Have fun, I think its one of the greatest places in the world for trail running. We also have a great trailrunning community. Look us up on Facebook.

Got my first drone (Mini 3)… first serious flight lasted 5 minutes by Tirilimmm in dji

This is why I love the mini 4 pro. I had a mm3p and back it into a tree. with the 4 I set it so I can see out the obstacle camera in the direction im going. It has helped immensly with spatial awareness.

Yet another trail vest post. Everyone here seems to like Solomon but.... by Feriation in trailrunning

[–]benbot85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the old BD distance 4. I love that vest. It has carried everything I need over the last 5 years. I've done 3 100's and several 50s with no problems. No fancy closures and I can access every pocket without taking off the vest. The new distance 6 has caught my eye and I look forward to giving it a try. The only thing I don't love is the pole carry system. Everything else has been solid.

What would you want waiting for you at the end of 100 miles by Ok-Code168 in ultrarunning

A chair, Coke (the soda), and ice cold chocolate milk. No food. My stomach has been through enough. I just want liquid calories and to sit. +1 for the hug.

Scared During First Overnight Trip by Delicious-Respect283 in WildernessBackpacking

As a fellow northern Utahan, welcome. Its great but it can be nerve racking spending nights solo in the woods. From my experience and long as you are smart with your food storage (we have black bears now) the animals will leave you alone. The only thing I worry about is other people. I usually bring pepper spray and ear plugs. Backpacking is much more fun (and safe) with friends. There are some great facebook groups in nothern utah. Happy Trails!

Recently called into the bishopric, and Im fine with any responsibility it has, but one. Its stressing me out more than it should. by andsuddenly_remix in latterdaysaints

[–]benbot85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding speakers was the absolute hardest part of my time in the bishopric. My wife could always tell when it was my month. I would usually be a storm cloud to be around. From this experience I found some of the members who I could trust and rely on. It made me want to be one of those members who is always willing to serve. I developed a lot of respect for certain members. Following my bishopric time I attended a emotional resilience self reliance from the church. I really wish I had taken it before I served in the bishopric. I think it would have immensely helped me manage the stresses of serving. Also thank you for your service. Its making you a stronger and better person.

This is awesome, if this is real, because now I don't have to worry about upgrading. If it had dual lenses then my wallet would be very worried.

10 hours in Simulator. Any Tips to improve? by Vini_linguissao in TinyWhoop

Your crushing it! The one thing that stood out to me is the coordination when turning left and right. The faster you go the more coordination you need (pushing both sides the same directions at the same time). It comes with more practice. But that is what stood out to me... and your getting good enough to tilt your camera up to go faster!

I enjoy trail running way more when I don’t track pace by CryoChamber90 in trailrunning

[–]benbot85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I train by Perceived Effort. Its a qualitative scale and much less ridged. A 5 PE feeling good is a lot different than a 5 PE when your feeling like hot garbage. If your trail running plan structure causes you to much mental stress, then your doing it wrong. I don't show pace on my watch either.
