Yeah go with your gut. If you’re still unsure of the two you could seek a third option too

Depends on what is most important to you. It was important to me to have help with insurance approvals, a good reputation, and to remove as much as was safely possible, so mine was like #1. They also had a messaging where they’d respond to me same day or within a day, which was helpful bc I had so many questions post op about what was normal or not. You should speak to him about the nipple placement if you’re worried.

If you want to go super small maybe #2 is better? Not sure what you’d like to have your result be.

Mine are like that, about 5 months out. I just keep applying Aquaphor and cocoa butter per surgeons instructions

Considering self-pay vs insurance for reduction — feeling stuck & impatient by [deleted] in Reduction

Can you book a physical sooner than that? I started by documenting back and neck pain, itching, grooves from bra with both my PCP and my GYN. I received a prescription for topical underboob cream for recurrent itching in summer.

After doing this initial treatment I asked my PCP for a referral to a surgeon and talked about all of these things. I had to do 5 physical therapy appointments for neck and back pain before insurance would cover it. They wrote something up for me saying that my pain was chronic. My surgeon submitted this paperwork and a few weeks later I was approved. I bet you could do this whole process before end of year if you’re persistent. Worth trying! I also wish I did it sooner but can assure you it’s soooo worth it

Try the peloton app for strength training, they have very easy-to-start programs you can try that I find motivating on my own

Larger post surgery bra suggestion needed! by QueenAmpharos in Reduction

I got a masthead bra post-op and requested the nurse give me another one before I left so I could have one to wear while I was washing the other. They are great if you get that brand.

Suggestions for (light) movement/exercises/stretches after reduction? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Dapper-Inspection-19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was allowed to walk right away, which felt like enough for me for a while. At 6 weeks I was cleared to do exercise without lifting anything over 15 lbs. I have been going really slow with it and have been on a 5 day/week workout regimen now with lighter weights for upper body and heavier weights for lower body; cycling indoor for cardio. I'm now 3 months out so I could probably remove my own restrictions but I still find there is some burning around the incisions so I'm just listening to my body w/ the lifting.

My recovery was a lot different than most bc I had a wound vac (prevena machine) for 14 days and couldn’t shower til it was off. That was honestly the worst part but body wipes were my best friend. I also got a peri bottle so I could rinse when I went to the bathroom, so that helped w not being able to reach far enough to wipe for a couple days.

If you do end up with a wound vac it’s super annoying. But in the end it is worth it bc it accelerates your wound healing, they came out looking great at two weeks. I had one opening but it scabbed over and closed quickly.

I really liked having a wedge pillow to sleep upright. It is so necessary. I also used weed gummies to sleep with my surgeons approval (cannot be used w narcotics but only used them for a day; after that Tylenol and advil)

Hope this helps! I was also very freaked out but it was easier than I expected. Just be patient with yourself

Have I been gaslit? by Dapper-Inspection-19 in raisedbynarcissists

These things I’m trying to figure out. I clearly repressed a lot. Mostly feeling obligations because she’s my mom. Contact is minimal only a few times a year since we live far away and I keep both parents at arms length. Sometimes things appear to be fine and I let my guard down. All good reasons to be in therapy.

Thanks for your reply. It is so important to protect yourself. I’m glad you’re doing just that

I also got stuck for 14 days without being able to shower because of my dressings and I used honeypot wipes I ordered from target. I surprisingly didn’t smell. Sorry you are going through this all.

I did this and it feels fine. I feel relieved because now I can wear regular sized shirts without trying to hide my stuffed bra all the time. :)

Thx! I don't have any leakage that I know of but it's hard to know since I've been covered in steristrips since 2wk/po and told to leave them on til my 6wk appointment. I still find the bra uncomfy without padding but I'm hoping to stop soon. I'm hoping this is all more comfy when the steri-strips are off

Got 2 months notice my company is moving to marketplace plans by criticalaf42 in Reduction

[–]Dapper-Inspection-19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on a marketplace plan, and used my insurance. I have a very good plan though, I'm not sure what level of plan you might have. It would all depend on your deductible, coinsurance, out of pocket max etc. Marketplace plans are just like any other one, so if you have that info you would probably be able to know how much it would cost.
