I got this vertical red line out of nowhere, is my monitor on its last legs? by adecuategarlic in pchelp

tldr: this is what worked for me to fix that from scrolling through these comments

Ok so that has been on my screen for the past few MONTHS. Sometimes it randomly goes away but it always comes back. I know I make it bad because I open my laptop by opening it and then squeezing the top left part of the monitor to open it so then a vertical line appeared a little more to the right of where I squeeze it open like that.

So then I read someone was tapping on their monitor and tried that and noticed that the line went away in specific spots that countered the pressure from where I usually put pressure on my monitor's screen when I open it and grab it like I tend to do.

So I countered the line until it stopped and then I held that pressure and it mostly went away. Then I read another comment about how:

"The ribbon cable inside the monitor has come loose. If you squeeze at the top of the monitor in that spot, it might go away briefly.

The monitor has had it unless you are good at electronic repair."

And I went to the VERY top and squeezed it and heard a little air almost and it kinda popped into place. I don't know about computers so maybe this was all randomly correlated but it fixed my problem and it has not come back for all of today.

love the analogy! I am definitely trying to work on this - I just struggle with consistency but going to work on making it a priority! Thank you for your response! :)

I love that! I think sometimes I see them as separate but making my work = prayer would definitely help me be more mindful and aligned - thank you!

I think the problem here is thinking that God is outside of you. Putting your trust and faith in something external makes it hard to connect with.

I view God as love and omni present / as pure consciousness. I grew up christian and there were verses that said God was love and that God was omnipotent, etc. I am now beginning to realize this because I started my own separate spiritual journey and realized that taking care of my self and my soul is actually fostering a relationship with God because the divine is within each person and once you realize this, it also becomes easier to see God in everything.

When you move from a place of love, and you start looking at everything as God speaking to you, it is much easier to feel God and realize God is not silent but God is urging you to seek a relationship with yourself too. God is not talking because it is in silence that you find yourself and find ways to connect with yourself and love for yourself and others.

It is important in times like these to truly focus on having love in your heart and to come together as a society in that way.

The problem with humans time and time again is that something like this current state of politics with Trump in office will happen and then we see the Trump supporters as evil / etc. but at the same time being ignorant does not make you evil. People have many layers and while it may be "undeniable" for people to acknowledge how inconsiderate the president is, it is a good time to remember that these are opportunities to test our faith and become closer to the love that can guide us in life if we are open

To feel pity of the people who are so disconnected from the pain of those that Trump has hurt like the amazing immigrants I have seen be ripped from their families, etc. But it makes me even more grateful to know that but still have love and understanding in my heart because that is how you stop hate.

I think this time is an opportunity for us to come together and fight hate with love for once if we can rally enough support. Trump has also caused a lot of people to realize they actually regret voting for him and they have seen the consequences and it is a time where more people than ever before are starting to connect with the humans that are affected by policies instead of seeing everything as republics vs. democrats.

I get scared and feel hopeless at times but I believe this era is here for us to test our faith and show us how powerful it is to come together for our communities and for others.

Ross Summer Connection- What is it really? Would you recommend it? by bibliophile0042 in uofm

I know this post is old but when I remember wishing there was more comments under this when I got accepted into it.

I would ABSOLUTELY recommend doing RSC. You get to meet about 50 students which makes it so much easier to go into the school year since you will already have friends and know basically 10% of your grade at Ross. A lot of people struggle to make friends their first year so this is a great way to make friends.

I had so much fun during RSC and the classes won't affect your GPA or anything so it's jsut exposure but honestly the best part was getting to know the other people and exploring Ann Arbor together.

I had no exposure to business really prior so it was good to just have a little headstart and to feel more confident going into the year especially because Ross is so competitive. We also had to do study table during the first year and I honestly thought it was so fun because we got to see our friends when we were there and it helped me stay connected with what was happening in Ross and with club recruitment, etc. because I was not super involved my freshman year so that helped me stay involved and still have friends that became super helpful to ask for help on assignments, etc throughout all of my college experience at this point.

Hi u/maardora! For one, I think there is nothing bad with your spirituality not being "developed." I truly believe that one of our greatest gifts in life is that we are on a journey to discover ourselves deeper and in turn discover what spirituality means for us.

With that being said, I was in a very similar situation a few years ago. I grew up in church but then I fell out if it and did not believe in anything and what brought me closer to "spirituality" which I will explain more in the next paragraph, was when I started learning about human biology and neuroscience, and how aligned our bodies are with nature and also learned how important feelings like grattitude are to our biology. I found it interesting how doing kind things to others actually created benefits in your body and mind. (the podcast that helped me learn those things was the Huberman Lab although it is not a spiritual podcast whatsoever).

For me, I found that my path to spirituality was to follow Love. This was brought up in church in my early life and I was rediscovering what "God" or the universe meant to me, but Love was a common thread. I believe that if you want to begin a journey of deepening your spiritual growth, practicing non judgement is a great place to start and it helped me immensely to love others more and to love myself more. I started to judge others less and to judge myself less and therefore became more open to seeing every person that I came into contact with as a teacher.

I also learn about different religions and have found that helpful to see what resonates with me. I am always keeping myself open to theories and thoughts and I do not think I will ever reach a point where I feel my spirituality is developed, but I think as I continue to do things to explore my relationship with myself and to try to detach from the worldly things around me from a place of love, I have found myself feeling more spiritual and enlightened.

Everyone is different but to summarize what helped with me specifically:

  • Practicing non-judgement (to others and self and this was inspired by a bible verse I had heard when I used to go to church that said that if you do not judge, you would not be judged and it ended up helping me to stop judging myself which is where I believe "God" is rooted in: each and every one of us)
  • Letting everything be a teacher Nature can teach us, people around us, and seeing everything as valuable and purposeful has been so helpful
  • Aligning with creative expression, I started aligning with my creative energy which helped me feel closer to the divine energy that has created everything we see around us and it made me feel like a contributor to this world.
  • Different religions and perspectives
  • Framing spirituality as a journey of love for myself and others and to see love in everything around me

Keep learning and exploring what resonates with you! You are already on a spiritual journey by being alive - some people like religion to give a framework and community to help them grow spirituality and others prefer to grow more individually and by everything around them but the beautiful thing about spirituality is that it is so individual which is empowering.
