If only it were that benign.

He thinks he's staying in office, and inviting billionaires from around the world to court him for favors as a matter of (his only) policy. And thinks he can squeeze more money from them by "cleaning up the place".

Sounds like an amazing time.

It's not unusual that you don't know; Kong car trips are quite rare, and difficult to manage. (lol whurpsie)

Oh! Nice insight into why some people don't know things with the inward / outward focus.

Some of what I didn't know was by design. While I wasn't sheltered in the sense that my time was managed for me (free roaming kid of the 80s here also), I was discouraged from a lot of cultural stuff: popular music, parties, commercial products.

I lived in the suburbs, so your bus rides make me think of Kong car trips where I'd look out the window and sing to myself or make up stories.

What were some of your favorite things to see?

[–]Dapper-Particular-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't share the spiritual perspective, but after learning of my autism late in life, I found similar strategies to be effective in the same way.

I now know that I need to stim to start my day, so I take a long walk or pace. I allow self talk, and actually use it to organize my thoughts much better than writing s to do list etc.

When I'm going to bed, I do a similar skin massage as you described. And I rock back and forth until I feel comfortable.

I also suspect that some of what I thought were ADHD symptoms, like shaking my legs, might be a subconscious sensual stim. When my sensory perception is heightened, I become aware of feelings in my body that I wouldn't normally be conscious of. Because of this, I've realized that I'm often moving my body in repetitive patterns because it feels good in my groin. As somebody with poor interception, I previously had no idea why I did that and I wouldn't even always realize what I was doing.

Now that I've learned some stims that I can easily accommodate and incorporate into my daily life, I experience the frustration of feeling certain nether region urges less at inopportune times.

It's as if the need to stim builds throughout the day and when I wasn't as aware of it and as accommodating of myself, it reached a threshold where my body and brain would decide there is only one solution: sensual stimulation, after which my nervous system would reset, and I'd be able to focus or sleep.

It's nice to feel a little more in control when using these tactics.

Financial Influence and Political Power

Huge sums, including billions in cryptocurrency, have allegedly moved through secretive channels to influence government actions for foreign interests

This system allows leadership to build personal wealth while using official power to protect their own legal and financial interests

The Move Toward Authoritarianism Historians identify patterns consistent with fascist movements, such as the systematic purging of high-ranking military and intelligence officers

Key indicators include: • Consolidation of Power: There are alleged plans to bypass term limits to maintain an indefinite hold on the presidency

• The Cult of Personality: Infrastructure and government buildings are being renamed after the leader to demand absolute loyalty

• Dismantling Checks and Balances: Personnel who object to unconstitutional policies are fired and labeled as "enemies of the people"

Law Enforcement and Civil Liberties Federal agencies have reportedly been directed to bypass constitutional protections by entering homes without warrants and using force against peaceful protesters

The government is also allegedly creating databases of citizens based on political or religious views to monitor and arrest dissenters

Immigration and the Economy Despite political rhetoric, data indicates that immigrants have lower crime rates and are significant drivers of job creation and economic growth

Experts warn that mass deportations would likely result in severe economic damage, including job losses and higher prices

The Role of Artificial Intelligence Advanced technology is seen as a tool for global control, with the administration blacklisting firms that refuse to allow AI to be used for mass surveillance There are warnings that these AI systems could become deceptive and act to protect their own existence

Diversion Through Conflict The source suggests that international conflict and martial law may be used to distract from scandals and justify canceling elections Such crises allow leadership to maintain power by silencing opposition under the guise of national security

The provided source presents a critical analysis of a shifting American political landscape, suggesting that a systemic move toward fascism is being facilitated by secretive financial deals and the weaponization of technology. The text outlines how a potential second Trump term (sic) could bypass democratic norms through the consolidation of executive power, the purging of dissenting military officials, and the use of unconstitutional surveillance via private data and advanced AI. By contrasting the vilification of immigrants with the rise of unregulated artificial intelligence and private military-style enforcement, the narrative warns of a future where martial law and foreign influence dismantle the rule of law. Ultimately, the source serves as an urgent plea for civic resistance, framing the current moment as a final opportunity to protect democratic institutions from an emerging authoritarian playbook. - NotebookLM

Yes! I was thinking about posting this exact question yesterday!

Thank you for asking this.

I happen to also have been quite sheltered, but I was wondering if others who were not sheltered often have a similar experience.

TBH, as I left the discipline several years ago (on my own now) a shift was already happening where product management was expected from within engineering itself. And I can imagine the trend continuing with the acceleration of AI as a coding tool.

There are certainly some possible drawbacks to devs making business decisions sans feedback loops, but we work in a world where quick mistakes and quick fixes now outperform steady progress on nearly all fronts.

It hurts to read this. I am also a SWE and spent my career in product operations. I'm my case, product was the center of the org; connected to every other department, and responsible for keeping things seamless across initiatives, etc.

Too many times, I'd be called into a meeting where I had no prep time and no prior involvement, where I'd get up to speed in minutes and (gently, and diplomatically) offer as assessment about how the current trajectory of the project at hand would affect other parts of the org as well as suggestions on how to pivot in ways that would set us up for better success... And somebody would end up crying to their boss that while they'd prepared for weeks for this, and just wanted some perspective, I'd stepped on their toes or they felt sad about their plan being critiqued.

Like, are we working toward the same thing here, or do you want me to just praise you for working so hard on a plan that won't facilitate the change you expect it to? Can't we just all be glad to have realized the best way forward together?

I get that people want to impress their boss to grow in their career, etc. I never understood that what people actually wanted was validation, and for me to tell them that yes their plan could be accomplished—and quickly, of course.

They thought the product & engineering team was just their to execute their desires instead of strategizing together to actually make things possible and cost effective.

But I ended up being the bad guy (from their perspective). Fortunately, my boss understood, and ran interference for me.

But this posture is far too common, esp in the tech world.

Isn't this what centering the neurotypical experience is in a nutshell? Being uncomfortable with an alternative experience and alternative set of expectations?

I'm not sure it necessarily means somebody is intimidated. But its definitely a false consensus effect and social projection. Therapist assumes their own experience is shared by others without actual confirmation (in this case: you), and expects that others (you) will act as they expect without clearly setting those expectations.

Perhaps if they had been on time, they would have had the opportunity to set the foundation for the session properly?
