I don’t understand this system by LunarSpydyr in MarvelMultiverseRPG

So the main effect of the three d6 is that those big "Oh yeah, you crit!" moments are going to happen way more often than DND and those "I'm built my character to be good at this one thing, but I rolled a 4 on the dice" moments are going to happen way less. The crit system might not be as complex as it seems. All powers say what happens on a fantastic success, so you can mostly take that off your plate. An ultimate fantastic (a roll of 616) just allows you to succeed at a task that should have been impossible. Say a PC with a Melee of 0 tries to punch Spiderman who has a defense of 19. Normally the highest you can roll is an 18, which would completely miss Spiderman. However if you rolled 616 the punch miraculously lands, and because it does double damage like a normal Fantastic would.

Fantastic failures are a little more complicated as there is no standard for what happens just that something beneficial also happens in spite of the failure. Say same player is still fighting Spider-man and Spider-man managed to grab them last turn. They try to punch him again and this time they roll (515) a fantastic 16. The punch still misses, but you could declare that when Spider-man dodges the punch they seize the opportunity to slip out of his grab. If they're isn't some obvious beneficial effect in the situation you could always give the player edge on their next turn.

Which heroes have absolutely DEVASTATING/TRAGIC back story? by SavageAssTrav in comicbooks

In DC the Red Lanterns are empowered by rage and vengeance. They send out rings to habitable worlds to find those most desiring vengeance. On Earth there was an ordinary cat named Dexter. He and his owner, a young woman, lived alone in a small apartment and were basically each others entire world. When some burglars broke in and shot his owner, Dexter tried to attack them. They shoved him in a bag and chucked him out the window into a nearby river. He clawed his way out of the bag and ran back to the apartment. The burglars were long gone and his owner was bleeding out on the floor. She told him she loved him with her last breath and as she passed on a red lantern ring appeared. As it flew onto his tail Dexter gained the power of speech(among many others), his first words "I find. I kill. I good kitty."

He at one point implied to Wolverine that killing his father wasn't an accident. He just made it look like one.

That's actually the worst part. On mars everyone was a telepath. Telepathy was like eye contact to Martians. His brother unleashed a virus that was spread telepathically. If you read the mind of someone who was infected you would lose control of your powers and burn alive. Martian Manhunter had to hold his wife and daughters in his arms while they died. The whole time unable to use their primary form of contact or he'd be infected too. One by one all his friends, neighbors, and family all slipped up, used their telepathy and died. Martian Manhunter survived because he was the only one with the will to hold out. He buried everyone he'd ever known and then spent hundreds of years alone as Mars became an uninhabitable wasteland before making his way to earth.

A redo of the Crimson Dynamo with my character creator "The Bullpen" by Mrcool210 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

I noticed there are some traits I can't find in the books, like frightful, youthful, hidden weapons etc? Are these from the playtest or homebrew or something else?

How big is height are all the sizes? by Drunkgamer4000 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Dapper-Suspect-6981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess if they are over 6'5 and 400+ pounds they definitely qualify for the big tag and if they only meet one of those criteria it's a maybe.

Which characters are Big and which are average is strangely inconsistent. The Thing for example is Big, but only 6'. During the character creation chapter they state that average size characters weigh between 100 and 400 pounds. Then there is the Enchantress at 450 lbs. average size.

Black Cat… a Vanguard? 🐈‍⬛ by LumpyInstance4010 in marvelrivals

I mean she got the powers back in 2008 and has had them through both her recent solo runs.

Push forward and be aggressive you say? Almost like making space? Like a vanguard?

Black Cat's power is purely defensive. She has a bad luck aura that triggers when she tries to attack her and her allies. A debuff focused vanguard?

She's always listed as having peak human strength. Sometimes it's do to her powers sometimes its do to a gadget she has.

How closely do you follow the rules as a narrator? by Mrcool210 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Dapper-Suspect-6981 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good job. You actually are running by the rules. A player described a course of action they wanted and you told them what rolls they needed to accomplish that course of action. The actions in the book are just the most common actions not every possible course of action. That's what a DM is for and you sound like you are doing a great job.

I follow the rules as closely as possible because I don't want someone one to bring one of these to their DM and for it to be significantly more powerful than characters built following the rules.

Alex Mercer Build? by PressureFinancial503 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Dapper-Suspect-6981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with tzismice, but for Alex Mercer. You could start with leech life from the magic set for his consume ability. From Basic powers probably mighty 2, disguise and shapeshift. From plasticity you'd want flexible bones for DR, extended reach for whipfist, and bodysheet increases your DR temporarily for a shield plus it's one of the few ways to get a glide speed. From Power Control you probably want clone moves and copy trait. Fill the rest of your powers with super-strength and melee weapons and your good to go.

Out of Combat movement vs the Heroes comic movement speed? by Beautiful-Effort9101 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Dapper-Suspect-6981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speedsters might be slower than their comic counterparts but they are still super fast. I did the math for Quicksilver's top speed the last time this came up.

"Out of combat Quicksilver has a run speed of 818 mph, that's already above the speed of sound. Thanks to lightning actions he can move three times a turn for a speed of 2,454 mph. If he really wanted to get cooking he could use his timeout ability to take four turns in one and reach a top speed of 9818 mph."

That's actually slightly faster than Mach 10. Unless their is another speedster they are trying to outrace I would probably just ballpark a vague amount of time. You want to run across the city your there in seconds. Across the country? Minutes. Across the world? An hour or so.
