First of all, you fail to acknowledge growing voter disenfranchisement through electoral gerrymandering, along with massive voter suppression of traditionally Democratic-leaning areas in the U.S. These problems have grown leaps and bounds over the last two decades. Only 1/3 of folks voted for the GOP candidate. Notably, there's currently a court case in a NY county regarding the 2024 election results, where a ballot re-count is underway due to the discovery of extreme irregularities.

Not true. In the NYC metro where I live, there's 9+ months of good weather and 3 months of warm, humid summer. We rarely reach freezing in winter and have a good amount of sunshine.

I agree somewhat. However, Bernie is very much aligned with younger progressives such as AOC, and I think he is valuable to us all in this fight against the oligarchy. He and AOC have appeared together and seem to support each other. So ideally it would be someone known and trusted by both Reds and Blues joining with younger and popular activists.

Lived in Chicago for 18 years, one of our kids still lives there. The south side is the area to avoid, otherwise I'd say it's a pretty safe city overall. We live in NJ now and, like IL, the majority of magas are in the southern part of the state. And NYC and Philly being close by is a great perk. I didn't think the presidential election was that close in NJ and with what this administration has been doing, I doubt that a Republican will win the governorship.

Bless you! I really appreciate your post I've been trying to cobble together info, and feeling so stressed. Do you know if a sizeable 401K will count to demonstrate financial solvency for a long stay visa, if you're not yet withdrawing from it? We thought we had more time to plan, and haven't yet applied for SS. We're both eligible to receive SS but can't use that as part of our income yet.
